Top Gear Returns Sunday 22nd June 2008

From Andy Wilman:

Before I get on to the coming week's show, though, I just want to clear up a bit of housekeeping. Firstly, if the boys on Final Gear are reading this - WE DID NOT DUB A BLOODY V8 ON THE DAIHATSU TERIOS. Promise, chaps.

We like to do our best with the Jerry Bruckheimer noises, but we have our standards, and one of those standards is to not upset car dweebs - we like them too much.

I asked the director the same question about the engine when I saw the first cut of the film and he said you can hear the V8 camera car in the background, but the Terios still makes its own rorty little sound.

How else do you think they get all the shots? Have hundreds of cameramen everywhere?

What does that have to do with my comment about it being poor continuity (although not really important in this context) to show things such as a car being dirty then clean then dirty again or dragging a lure on a rope, then not, then dragging it again?

Few programs are filmed in a continuous shoot. That's why continuity issues exist.

James kicks things off this week, driving around Japan in some cars you've never heard of, picking up a couple of interesting passengers along the way.
Back in Surrey, Richard gets his hands on the pig-ugly Gumpert Apollo, and then hands it to The Stig for a hot lap. We know it's a quick car, but you'll have to watch the show on Sunday to see if it's got what it takes to bag a place amongst the prettier exotica at the top end of the lap board.
Top Gear favourite Jay Kay drops in for a chat and has another bash at a lap in the Reasonably Priced Car. Everyone was banking on him to take the top spot on the celeb lap board and wipe the perma-smirk off Simon Cowell's face in the process. The track's dry but the weather is warm enough to take the edge off a weedy engine's performance. 1:45.9 is the time to beat and Jay is hungry for victory.
Finally, the series signs off with a fight: Top Gear versus the Germans, and it's a proper battle so prepare to witness something special here. Just try not to mention the war.

Nice, Mazda Furio. Just done an online press publication for this at work in time for the motor show. Sounds awesome and got lots of nice high-res pics too.

Last in the series :(.. BBC officially suck again.

^^^ I assume that girl was from this series? I seemed to miss her when watching!

Personally I'd rather watch Top Gear than some burly Russian lady hurl an iron lump twice the weight of me the length of a football field.

Nevermind, back to watching Dave...
