Ah Heck, and I was collecting AMG.
Although as you say it's not surprising, and hopefully at least with the R1's being done by Funi now there is a good chance we'll still see a UK release.

I'm a bit disappointed to see that Bandai in the US have apparently only dubbed episodes 1-8 of the latest release of Galaxy Angel (out of 13) :/

On a brighter note, Woohoo 4000 posts, I think that deserves some sweets...

And I paid for my new TV yesterday (delivery expected Monday so I've got the weekend to get my room ready for it).

Near as i can tell the judder is due to NTSC disc playbay Pal seeen ok on my setup
Let us know how you find the new tv Werewolf :)
My copy of Maria Sama has shipped today :)
Looks like my pioneer 606 dvd player is dieing :( has starting to audio stutter on most discs now, although it is more noticeable on dvdr discs

There is 26 episodes of Galaxy Angel and its all dubed already.

IIRC that's the first series (I've got the first and second here, Rune was dubless thanks to BVA, Z and S were dubbed, there are about 5 series and it's the latest (X?) that has the half done dub.

It's very confusing, i had to double check the ones I'd got :)

Andaril, hopefully it shouldn't be too bad on my set (it's a hundred hertz set so with luck it should cope ok), although i'm interested to see how my very aged DVD player copes :)
I'll probably be posting monday/Tuesday with a report on how it turns out :)

My Marmite hasn't shipped yet so I've been making up for it by watching my favourite plot arcs on •cough• My iPod touch ;)

Watched the first half of Chrono Crusade (with dodgy sound on disk 2) and the first disk of Moon Phase today. Probably watch the rest of the former tomorrow whist sorting out htpc cooling :)

Finished watching Chrono Crusade .... thought it was pretty good with it getting very emotional at the end. Liked the ending theme enough to order it on CD :)

It's turning out to be a bit expensive at the moment though with all these resurrected releases coming out from September onwards, (not helped by having some OSTs and Artbooks on the way from Japan at the moment) .... need to do some overtime. :(

Could be worse though ... at least some of other series I would like which haven't been licensed yet are unlikely to have any movement on them now until next year, (although come on people licence Clannad(*), Ef, Myself Yourself etc etc etc)

(*) *cough* saw the straight to DVD episode 24 this morning .... I reeeeaaaallly want this licenced.....

Watched quite a bit at the weekend, due to it being to hot to do anything else ...

- Air ... still gets me on disk 3.
- I, my, me Strawberry Eggs ... good series if not to everyones taste.
- Moonphase ... continued watching this, about halfway through now ... good
- Maison Ikkoku ... watched the first couple of disks ... good story although the animations a bit dated now, (mainly started watching it as I saw a thread on the AnimeonDVD forums saying how it was OOP and remembered that I got a full set a while a go off 'bay (from Loopstah if I remember correctly :))).

Came in to work today to get moaned at by the post room :) A few parcels with:
Eureka Seven - Vols 1-10
Beck boxset
Petit Princess Yucie boxset
Shuffle #5
Kujibiki unbalance Manga vol 1

edit: Doh! forgot they also had my Figma Haruhi waiting for me :)

The place I normally get stuff from say I should have my Marmite boxset by the end of the week too .... although on the downside I have just missed a Parcel Force delivery of a couple of books from Japan.

Just finished watching Desert Punk. Well i really rather enjoyed it all but when it came to the last few episodes it just really turned the whole show on its ear. Good anime tho even tho the ending wasnt what i wanted to see to conclude everything.

sounds like you've both had a good anime weekend :)
I managed to watch the last two volumes of Samurai gun but not much else, something i'm planning to remedy today/tommorow starting with Patlabor 3 to test my new TV :)

Speaking of which, that arrived earlier and so far i'm very impressed with it, the SD picture quality is good on both the DVD (Jaws), Cable and it's built in tuners from what I can see, and the HDMI is superb - i plugged it in, changed the input over and it just worked (no faffing about).
The only thing i'm struggling to do at the moment is get the ATI theater mode to work properly which i think is a setting i'm not seeing (it's meant to have an option to clone the main display, but when playing video play that full screen on the secondary/clone display regardless of what it's running at on the main display).

Just had my right stuf catalog through the door today.Hope the maria-sama boxset is on its way(says staging)on the packing list?? whatever that means

One of the other things I picked up from the post room today was a copy of August's Otaku USA magazine ... haven't had a chance to look through it fully but did watch the episode one of Marmite on the disk. :D

If I remember correctly the sub track on here is the normal track as the one with the Japanese honorifics was not finalised at the time it was submitted but generally the translation seemed reasonable, (except for the Sei-sama -> Lady Sei type things which should be fixed in the other sub track as that's the whole point of it). A few differences with the *cough* version but that's to be expected and the differences were nothing major.

I see there is also a review of Marmite on AoD, (is it sad that as I read it (at my desk at work) I was apparently muttering "that's wrong" every so often and making people around me wonder what I was doing :p).

The son of one of my colleagues is off to Japan on Wednesday ... wish I was :( ... really want to go back again ... and do some shopping in Akihabara ... unfortunately the resturant which did good Roast Pork Curry Udon was in Kyoto :)

Wondering about a few bits of double dipping at the moment what with some of the boxsets due out over the next few months ... especially for series where I may have a disk or so which doesn't play back well in some players ... at the moment thinking about:
To Heart
This Ugly But Beautiful World
Kamichu

along with RahXephon which I don't actually have but sounds good.

Werewolf, don't know if this [pdf] will be any help ... I'm single heading the HTPC's onto LCD TV's personally so haven't had to play around with this sort of thing.

edit: oh one thing, the only issue I've had with HDMI from the HTPC is if the PC turns off the signal to the display for power saving then sometimes it doesn't come back on the Samsung LCDs I've used ... which can be a bit worrying if its the only display. Quick power cycle of the LCD normally encourages it to redetect the signal and work again ... but your TV's higher spec'ed so probably won't have the issue.

The only one of these I am familiar with is the first, Ichigo Mashimaro (Strawberry Marshmallow). Basically think of you description of Desert Punk above .... and then think what is the exact opposite. Ichigo Mashimaro is cute, at times funny in a gentle way and doesn't involve engaging much in the way of thought processes to understand any plot. I have the boxset which is good to relax to and a couple of volumes of the manga (which one day I may even read ....).

It's one of the few Anime with Strawberry in the title that doesn't involve something sexually non-conformist, (e.g. cross dressing (eggs) or rampant lesbianism (panic)) :)

I have this and its actually pretty good in my opinion, the booklet supplied with the (ADV iirc) dvd is one of the nicest I have seen, got some pages made out of thick tracing paper and it just has a quality feel to it.
The story is a little bit 'eh what' near the end but a second watch solves it, you do need to think on occassions for this in my opinion. I also think the english dub suits it better than the japanese version, the characters seem too western to suit the japanese language - you'll understand if you see it.

Anyway I've just seen rozen maidens (the first and traumend series) and I have to say its probably one of the most endearing anime I've seen to date, not sure why I even decided to see it but I think I liked the different looks to the 'dolls'. It was also different to most of my usual anime, usually have a mecha/space/sci-fi type feel to them, and I want to see a new series as they left a few openings/unanswered questions to allow for a follow on - I hate open/unfinished endings.

So has anyone got any other recommendations similar to rozen maidens :D.

Cheers, i've tried that now, without much success yet.
I suspect it's because my "main" display is a lower res than the clone one, or a vista issue (I've done it before with CRT TV's and monitors under XP).

Raxephon is good if you haven't got the series so far,

Search for 737-25747 on the ATI site, you may need a different player software?

lsg1r, I'm glad to see Rozen Maidens good ... I have the boxset which is coming out in September on pre-order currently, (I um'ed and ah-ed about getting it for ages until the point when the single volume became difficult to source). Not having seen it yet though it difficult for me to comment on series which are like it.

If you haven't got them on order try and get the overtures (theres 2 which are like 2 episodes) too, they supposedly fit in after episode 6 (looks about the right place to me too) and give an insight into some of the past etc, not necessarily needed for the series but good for the series as a whole to fill in some gaps etc.
