All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

I think the signing of Keane shows that Liverpool shop on the second shelf down at the moment - if they have any pretentions of really, genuinely challenging for the title, they need players who are World Class, and I'm afraid, as clever a player as he is, Keane is not in that category.

He will prove himself to be at Liverpool.

RONALDO leaves FERGIO LEAVES TOO!

Ferguson Bombshell: If Ronaldo Leaves, So Will I
Sir Alex Ferguson has dropped a bombshell by sensationally revealing that he will quit as manager of Manchester United if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves to join Real Madrid.

It has been the transfer soap opera of the summer, and the most explosive episode so far may have just been aired.

With Man Utd publicly insisting that the Portuguese wizard is staying, Real Madrid quietly confident that they can get their man, and Ronaldo himself still remaining silent, Sir Alex Ferguson has moved to drop an absolute bombshell regarding the issue.

Ferguson, who has won more trophies than any other manager in the history of English football, has threatened to quit Manchester United if Ronaldo is sold.

"If Ronaldo leaves, I'm going too," the Scot is quoted as saying by Spanish newspaper Marca.

It is quite an astonishing statement from Fergie, who has been at Man Utd for the last 22 years, winning 10 Premier Leagues, five FA Cups, two Champions Leagues and an Intercontinental Cup, among a plethora of other honours.

Ferguson is well known to being a master when it comes to playing the media, and these comments, if Marca have reported them accurately, may have been intended to pile up the guilt on Ronaldo, and pressure him into staying at Old Trafford.

You sound like you're one of these people who wants a Kaka in every position.

It's not needed and even if it was, the club can't afford it. It's about building a strong first team with as much quality as you can - the addition of Keane improves on what we had and I'll pass judgment on him over the games he plays.

If Liverpool push on and improve again then it'll be a good thing. Unfortunately we're not in Manchester United's and Chelsea's spending leagues, yet we're still trying and expected to compete. And laughed at if we don't.

Even though we have just spent £20m on a striker, we have offloaded some of our team to be able to do so. Players that Benitez would liked to have kept, at least in Crouch's case.

He's better than anyone you've got at Villa, thus, they've taken a step ahead of you with his signing.

And to be fair, apart from Drogba, he's better than any of Chelsea's front line.

Think you've spent more than Chelsea and us put together so far ;)

We're having to do a lot of wheeling and dealing though. Going out and buying a player just isn't clean and cut.

It isn't as easy as buying a right back for £16m and if you capture Tevez for the money rumoured, it won't be that easy either.

Benitez is sacrifing the depth of his squad for first team quality - something he should have done a long time ago in my opinion [given the resources at the club] but we're then lacking that depth quality that Chelsea and United will have when the season gets tough.

Is he? You've bought a lot of squad players too from what I've seen.

No he's not. We're about the same numbers wise.

We're able to buy Keane and Torres last summer because the players that have left have fetched far more money that the rubbish Houllier left and rather than having to buy 5-6 players to go straight into the starting 11 we're only looking at getting 2-3 players now.
