Hey everyone. Ive recently moved into a new house in London. As im from Teesside I was recommended this house by a person im working with and took it as travelling here and back up was like a 10 hour round trip.

Anyways I moved in last week only to find I didnt have a window in my room . She never mensioned this the emails about the room (discribing what it did / didnt have...) Im not at all happy as it gets really stuffy and im feeling a little clostrafobic.

Does anyone know if legally if you rent a room it has to have some sort of fresh air access and natural daylight? i.e have a window in the room?

I was honestly quite shocked when I first moved in and im seriously thinking about moving to a new place...

I havent signed any contracts yet so there shouldnt be any legal problems should there?

Any help would be greatly appricated.

Just don't sign then, move out asap.

Go looking tomorrow. Start searching now :).

Well theres a guy in the house atm whos moving out next week (im good mates with him now) and originally the landlady said I could have that room when he left...But now shes changed her mind and isnt returning my texts or phone calls. Apparently she said to my mate whos leaving "dont tell Sime, but I think I have some people interested in you room, is there any chance they could move in before you leave?"

 Cant believe this woman.

Get out asap. Why would you even consider renting from someone like that, should she even offer you the other room? And for god's sake dont pay her a penny, either.

I would think you should be able to get out of it.

I don't know about here but back in Canada, part of the building code specifies that all sleeping and living areas must have two means of escape in the event of a fire. One obviously being a door, the other, a window.

Would it have not been wise to view the room before you moved in?

Well yes...But as I stated earlier, it was a 10 hour round trip and we were contemplating coming down. Also being recommended it made me feel that little bit more reasured. Although tbh I expected there to be a window!

She sent me pics but it didnt show all four walls.
