Organ Donation

I'm down on the organ register and I'm happy for anything and everything that can be salvaged of me to be used for whoever at that point. Until then though I'd probably not be wanting to give up any parts that I might need unless it was for close family or friends in which case I'd do whatever I could.

Definately not, bodily organs fail all the time, i want to keep everything i have got, just incase.

i think I'm the same as most people here - they can have anything that's of use when I die, but while I'm alive I'll stick to things that'll grow back unless it's a relative or really close friend.

I don't even give blood. My organs are mine and unless they rot with me then I am doing a disservice.

And before anyone bitches, all my friends and family know that I am strictly DNR also.

If a part of me fails and I can live without it then I will happily remove it.

Matthew 5:30:

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

I'm curiums did you just say to him The internet people says respect! ?

Pretty much. Either that or I showed him the thread.

I can understand people not wanting to donate organs, but I'm curious to the reasoning behind you not wanting to give blood.

my reason is, literally, i'd stab the nurse in the face with the needle rather than have it anywhere near me.

i wish i could man up.
i can't.

Haha.

Well if its what he wants to do he might as well do it.

I'm not on the donor register.

I gave blood once and they send me letters asking me every month if I want to give it again :/

They must have spend at least £15 in postage a year asking me if I want to go donate blood.

They even ring me up :/

I only gave blood once!

I fin the easiest way to explain it is "It is my blood. Not yours." Every time I try to explain it by other terms, people get confused and start making assumptions...So I'll leave it at that.

My body heals well and fast, and has recovered relatively swiftly from the loss of a few pints before.

those who would never donate blood out of choice, i do hope you wouldn't expect any if you had a horrible accident..

Doesnt that mean his kidney could be given to anyone on the list, eg some alchoholic who will just abuse another one till it fails? Screw that tbh.

Your's is out of choice as well, glossing it up with a fear of needles does you no good.

If you needed blood taken for an urgent life or death test you would get over your fear in an instant.

You don't have a fear of needles, do you
It's not just a bit scared of them... i almost cancelled a month in Thailand because of a few tiny injections!!
I've always been an organ donor, i have the "any bit of me" box ticked..

I'd give blood but I've got a mental fear about giving organs, even when I'm dead. I dont want anyone getting any of my flesh when I'm not here anymore. I want every cell of mine burnt to a crisp.

I can't explain why I'm like this, but its gotten worse since I started working in a hospital (I have freaking nightmares about it too.) Something about dead bodies freaks me the hell out, and when I die I dont want mine sticking around so students and pathologist can gawk at my insides when I'm not there.

So no I'm not on the donor list :p

There are pretty strict rules for people who are eligable for organ transplant to prevent the donor organ being abused.

Penski, I must admit, try as I do I just can't understand your reasoning for not giving blood other then being selfish (which is your prerogative and obviously totally your choice and I respect that) but it does seem a shame.

No, they won't take it unless they know someone will need it. They will take tissue samples and make sure there is a match before he will even be considered for donations.
