13yo earns an AVERAGE! £70 per hour in Brighton..busking!

It's all down to what people are willing to pay, just like everything else.

That just about sums it up.
If it was Joe Satriani standing there having a widdle at least 99% of the public would pass him by because it would just be a noise and they don't like the genre.
The lad is 13 and will suddenly become interesting to a bigger percentage of people who won't know a good widdle from a bad widdle.
The lad is good though and at that age has got loads of potential.

But on topic, that kid is immense, wish i learnt an instrument as a child.

Its never to late! Believe it or not a basic electric guitar setup will cost below £200

I bought a Squier Strat, Marshall 15w amp, leads etc for around £170 about 5months ago, Since then I've Shielded the cavity (god rid of the horrid buzz) cost £5 for the copper tape, and changed the PUPs for Tonerider Classic Blues which cost £60 for the set. Sounds like a complely different guitar now, going to change the Caps & controls etc next.

I get Tuition every week by the ex-drumer of Plastic Toys, All this and i'm 28 and loving it. Happy days :)

Amazing kid. Really depressing that the only way the media can quantify or validate someones ability is by how much cash they earn. Pathetic really.

Jesus wept. He's rather talented on that guitar! (but not as talented as me of course).

This is exactly how David GIlmour and Syd Barrett got started out, look where they ended up! Well, one of them anyway.

Apparantly he wants a £700 Marshall Amp! Good luck lugging that round Brighton! :D

The media are only quantifying it that way because it's the only way the public would recognise his talents.

How many people can accurately judge how good a guitarist by how he sounds compared to how much he earns an hour?

'He can play really well and could be a great musician in the future' or 'He earns 5 times as much as you an hour AND he's only 13'

Wow 13 and he can play like that, fair play to the lad. I'm 28, been playing guitar among other instruments for 11 years and i'm not that good on guitar.
He's earning more than I was earning in my last job and all.

As long as the amp aint a solid state, the tube ones are great but the new ones, not so much.

I guess you're right. Maybe it was just the bint in the beanie peeing me off.

Funny how GUITARIST magazine state over and over that the difference between solid state and valve is negligible.
This is also backed up by my new guitarist who uses a TSL601 and Fender Twin in his SRV tribute band but uses my Marshall solid state with my band and he can't tell the difference at volume.

To be honest I am another who cannot tell the difference. I've tried three solid states now and they just sound more or less the same to me. Unless they have a longer lifespan or something I can't see the fuss over the whole solid-state vs tube debacle.

The young lad is really good at what he's doing but he could very well be a one trick pony.
By your own admission James Hetfield is a one trick pony?

Ok, so thats not really a fair thing to say at all but I hope you get my gist. I certainly wouldn't argue you need to be good at all styles to be a good guitarist. Everyone should just play what they enjoy.
