I think anything up to 6" within reason, is (Or was) legal.
My girlfriend said the same.

I think it's 3" now.
I think this is completely ridiculous. For one thing, you are just taking their word that they won't use it. They probably won't, but that's not the point. Why should their word be worth any more than anyone else's because they are religious? I am absolutely against creating separate laws for people simply based on what relgion they follow. If they are allowed to carry these knives, then so should everyone else. Or more sensibly, they should not be allowed to carry them. I thought it was acceptable for Sikhs to carry small symbolic "knives"? Why is that not enough for them?
Well no, 'our law' is that there is an exception for religious reasons, so he's perfectly within the law.Say what you wish, But I dont really care about his religion, Hes living in Britain, Our Laws, We ban the carrying of knife and thats the way it should be, No exceptions.
I vote that the religion is Monopoly. The rules are already there. If you're good you go to Mayfair, if not, Jail. Mr. Monopoly rewards you with things such as Community Chest but can also test you by offering Chance.
We can go door to door like Jehova's Witnesses and just leave the rules for them to ponder over.
I'm in \o/

Thats exactly it. Where do you draw the line. Im just going to walk around with this decorative religious grenade, dont mind me......
Sounds like a plan! Then we can create new rules as we go along![]()
ahh The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch RUN AWAYYYYY !!![]()
im sorry but you obviously do not understand the sikh religion. they carry it only if they are VERY religious and would never use it unless they needed to defend themselves or their family, and probably wouldn't use it even then.
Aviationanity, duh. (i make myself laugh sometimes)
:/
At least somebody's laughing...![]()
IS IT OPTIONAL TO WEAR A KIRPAN?
No! It is mandatory for initiated Sikhs to carry a Kirpan (this is recognised by the British Law).
IS IT LEGAL TO CARRY A KIRPAN IN BRITAIN?
Yes it is! Under the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (section 139) and Criminal Justice 1996 (section 3 and 4) allows anyone to carry a blade exceeding the length of 3 inches for religious, cultural or work related reasons. The Criminal Justice Act and the 2003 Religious Discrimination Act safeguards the Sikhs to carry the Kirpan
Any sikh wearing the kirpan (sword) does it with honour and respect and is not used for violence, plus the blade is not live. If you have a problem with these countries laws, how about you pack your bags and leave? Can't stand all these whingers who don't have a clue what they are talking about.
Pack their bags and leave? Sorry but it’s our county I think it should be them packing their bags.

And what if they are English? England is their country of birth. THe country allows them to carry it, so respect that fact but if you don't, get proactive to change the law.
