Whats that place called, off shore, own "country"

On a related theme, there's currently a guy up in Shetland who has moved on to a small island and declared it to an independent state. It's all an elaborate scheme to avoid paying a fine he owes.

that used to work moving to the isle of man but its all changed now.... the shame

wouldn't it still be governed under common law?

When the current owners claimed the 'island', it was in international waters. Britain then decided a few years later that they had rights to 12 miles instead of 3, which meant Sealand then fell in British waters.

Sealand, as an independent state, then claimed that they also owned a 12 mile radius around their country, which includes a large chunk of Suffolk :D

Just read the history of Sealand on their website and watched the BBC short film on You Tube....interesting stuff :)

There is something rather intriguing / spooky about these old Forts!

lets see who has the weapons to support there claim.

\It's like people who buy land on the moon. What they going to do about it.

how can you not understand it?

It's pointless saying you don't full under british law, or own the moon. If you don't have the armed forces to back up your claim. Quite simple really.

Sorry misunderstanding on my half! Blame the beer :D
