how old is too old for gaming

You can never be too old for gaming, it's better thank sitting in front of the TV watching rubbish anyway, gaming makes you think. I'm sure it is beneficial to older people and would help them keep their brains active. Your girlfriend clearly hasn't accepted that you play games for enjoyment and that it's part of who you are and not just some 'silly' thing you do, it's unreasonable for her to expect you to change. I think the average age of gamers is over 30, you have to remember that it's mainly the adults who buy the most games as they have a supply of income where as children don't.

There's been quite a few examples iirc. And I know there's been a few old people's homes who have used Wiis or DSes to keep their old people's brains ticking.
Annoyingly I can't find any links, most annoyingly because I need them for my dissertation research which is on the subject :o

when i was playing a sega mega drive(i was the first one on my street to have one)*head swells* nigh on 12-13 years ago i read an article that said computer games are most popular with between 18-25 year olds so that age group would be 30-37 years old now,so in short play games until you cant see snake break anybodies neck anymore

gf gets jealous and wants attention. that's why im always being dragged out to social do's so my gf can be the centre of attention. :/

but on the other hand i dont want to be a total nerdboy playing computer games all the time....and although i may have gotten the gaming addiction out of my system, i still play games, just not as much as i used to ;)

im 37..oo my arthritis

and btw; it's a choice thing ive been with my girl for 11 years, and she's had to put up with my addictions, even when i played games more than she liked :D ive found that ignoring others goes a long way toward getting what i want...sometimes.

and i agree getting away from the 'idiot box' is a good thing - endless adverts, propaganda, and bad news...."im as mad as hell and im not gunna take it anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" that's from movie "network" btw

...and as the cleaner in "2 and a half men" says:

"i didnt say dump her, i said grow a pair"
ahh classic.

25, and I don't see myself stopping any time soon.

I'm sure I'll be asking for nothing more than a regular supply of Xbox "whatever-version-is-out-then" games while I'm too ill/frail to move from my deathbed.

To be honest, most of the people who claim others are too old to be playing video games are too ignorant to bother trying it themselves, and probably refer to every console as "The Nintendo" or "The Sega".

As others have said I hope to never give up on gaming. Unless the games start becoming all Wii-like (thats not a dig at Wii games :p)

I'm 20 and spent the most of my teenage years really 'over-playing' to be quite honest, a habbit i'm now trying to get out of.

I work in a gameshop so i'm still following the scenes and playing all the latest games just not as much as I used to!

I still intend on playing untill I stop enjoying them...Which isn't going to be anytime soon :)

I dont think ill ever give up playing games. 20 now. i reckon ill just switch from the mainly fps games i play now to more relaxed strategical games like C&C 17 or w/e it is by the time i quit fps.
The only problem i can see involving gaming and the future is me destroying my kids spirits by never letting them win as im too competitive.

Depends what you mean by gaming. You can never be too old to enjoy it.

If you mean 'getting consoles on realease day', getting overly excited about games, playing on average over an hour a day and fiercly competitive that your console is better, 20.

when my wife of 17yrs years marriage stops watching, soaps, reality TV programmes, drama's, and cop shows thats the time i will stop gaming.........so never, She knows thats my passion and with 2 older kids and daughter she's got no choice in the matter anyway, lol

dude in life you do what makes you happy. as long as you dont make yourself ill or anyone around is in direct bad effect.

Exactly. If you're still gaming when you start getting to our ages (I'm 34) you might as well stop sweating it and be happy.
