No, the kid would still be there if whoever abducted her hadn't have done so.
As for innocent until proven guilty, suspicion doesn't cross that line, which is part of the problem. Innocent until proven guilty is a legal idea, it doesn't follow that it is also a social one, and in fact in this country, it almost certainly isn't when you look at how people are often treated after aquittal or not being charged.
