I maybe getting paranoid here but why is it whenever I overtake a lorry and go back over to the left infront lorry drivers always seem to flash me??

I dont 'cut in', I leave a reasonable distance to go back in, yet I seem to get the flash treatment??

Peugeot 306 incase your wondering!

*paranoid*

The flash back in is a sign you can move back into lane 1. Its general used between trucks and slow cars or towing stuff.

You can say thanks by flicking your indicators left, right left ;)

They normally do it to each other to say it’s safe to pull back in, don’t see why they would bother with a car though…

Male or female drivers, and what are they flashing? :p

Some lorry drivers flash to tell you 'you can pull in now' as they seem to think everyone can't see the rear of their vehicle.

Maybe give the lorry a little more space and see if they still do it.

Your lights all working correctly? - Silly question, but it could be your indicators are busted, or have dodgy rear lights or something. :)

yup thats what I do, they are just being courteous

Im guessing by some of the replies, its a sign to move back in?? but if im already ahead of it and moving across - why flash ?

They wouldn't, seems odd they do it constantly.

Have check of all your lights to see if they are working correctly

Nope

Yep, all working

Because it’s normally for used for trucks to let them know overtaking driver you have safely past the truck and can move back in.

HGVs are quite long.

maybe you're pulling in too early, a HGV is real heavy and has a massive breaking distance

he's trying to save your life, i reckon :)

long or 2 long flashes would be to move back in.

lots of short flashes there might be a fault with your car or you are plugging back in to early.

But all depend on whats around - Use common sense when driving and if everyone is flashing at you; you might have a problem :p

i take it as "thanks for not being a middle lane hogger and actually bothering to pull back in"

Happened to me a few times on the way to and from Bristol last weekend and I started to get a bit paranoid as well (paranoia wasn't helped by the bloke with his full beams on in the middle lane of the M4 at 7.30 on Friday, I thought I'd really annoyed him, until I realised he was just a moron).

Checked all my lights and indicators, no warning messages on the dash or any blown bulbs.

Given that I was doing about 95, I didn't think they would feel the need to flash me to tell me I could move back in as I was usually well ahead of them.

I figured they were telling me to slow down, but I wasn't really going quicker than a lot of other traffic and there was no sign of the rozzers, marked or otherwise.

Edit: As Mr Frost says, it could be for having dipped headlights on, but I do drive a Volvo......
