Instead of getting clever with water, it's water that caused this problem in the first place. I always place wet electrical items in a bowl of uncooked rice overnight in the airing cupboard. Works every time for remotes, key fobs, calculators etc.
Your still talking out your posterior.![]()
My still is doing what?
As myself and Tefal pointed outm, there are free ions in water, which conduct. Fact.
yes I overestimated how much, but my point stands that it's a worse idea to wash the remote with water (de-i or otherwise) than to just leave it to dry. Dry crystals don't conduct, adding more water is only likely to cause more damage.

y.

No copied, as could quite clearly be accertained from the lack of scientific talk in my previous posts.
I also done well at chemistry, and am still adamant he is wrong scientific background or not.
hey don;t drag me to your side, for all intents and purposes pure water is an insulator

I wasn't dragging you anywhere. I was just saying that we agreed that water has free ions in it.
Now children, stop all this squabbling about water - it's crap for electrical stuff........full stop!
Spectacularly few though, not enough to make it conductive.

It has an ion conctentration of 2x10^-7 M which means that it will conduct to some extent. I didn't specify how much it would conduct, just that it would, and it will.
I am technically correct, which is the best kind of corect![]()

No it's not!

Just. Give. It. Up.
Purely theoretically yes, in REALITY. No.
No, theoretically and practically it will conduct. Just not very much.
I'm satisfied that I was correct in what I was saying, and that my knowledge was correct. You just used google, and still I was more technically correct. You're the one who needs to give up![]()
