Driving a turbo car, anything I should know?

oh dear  lol

Well it was my fault, seems like 88k turbos don't like being remaped, no idea how close it was to death before the remap however, only lasted 5k after i got it done, first i got lots of oil in the exhaust then no more boost, it had some interesting compressor play and either a very worn bearing or a snapped shaft.

I would assume you can buy an aftermarket recirc, but I dont know if it would offer any advantage if the rest of the engine was stock

For the case of the 1.8T?

The standard recirc valve is plastic, and prone to failing on remapped (and sometimes stock) cars. The Forge 007p is a very VERY common upgrade for stock and modified cars alike. These also have the bonus of interchangable valve springs, so you can tweak it to match the boost threshold of your map/turbo.
