People with a top down approach will often miss it as they read the word then interpret if it had an F or not. Short common words are interpreted very quickly with little depth so are often missed. A bottom up approach means you will systematically check each letter to see if it's an F and will generally count them all but if asked to repeat the sentence then the person will not be able to do so.

Suicide was a traditional reason for refusing burial on church grounds. As was illegitimacy and prostitution.
