Russia Invades Georgia?

They're not really Russian citizens though are they? And if they are why don't they leave Georgia and move to Russia if they love it so much?

What worries me is the large Russian populations in various countries around the world now, such as cities like London and Dubai. Will Russia invade these countries if it perceives these citizens are in some way being disadvantaged?

Its what the Nazis did. Its very similar to the Nazis excuse for attacking Europe.

I'm not sure what to make of all this yet.

lol russia trying to help look at georgian president on new such lies

wtf.gif

You on the sauce early today or something?

why do you believe russia over georgia? Surely best to wait for unbiased reports?

Where would they come from then?

IMO it's best to listen to both sides and take an educated decision of what's really going on.

There'll always be propaganda in something like this no matter who reports it.

Some of us like to wait for confirmed reports from unbiased, accurate and credible sources before passing judgement.
So you're disregarding what civilians caught up amidst the violence is saying? You realize they're the only ones who can say it as it is, instead of the things the media are fed from Russian/Georgian sources? The hospital shelling post is from a person whose family has been displaced amidst the violence. By all means feel free to cherry pick your resources going for the 'unbiased, accurate and credible' ones but you're doing it completely wrong. I have no idea why you think media accounts who cite official Russian/Georgian sources are going to be more credible than the poor sods who didn't want this war and are seeing their families killed.

Don't be so naive.

Yes. Unless of course they are military experts and can tell different variants of SU25 apart?

Plus source: SomethingAwful forums doesn't exactly sound great, does it?

Currently I feel there are zero credible accounts of exactly what and why is going on. Thats why I've not sided with either party yet.

OK, by all means don't take civilian first-hand accounts into consideration then. You don't need to tell a SU25 from a SU33 to tell the world what is going on around you in the city. You have news reports from BBC and Al-Jazeera telling you different and conflicting things - one is saying the Russians have the city, another is saying Georgians are still fighting with the Russians in it. Civilian accounts on the floor in this situation is obviously going to be the most accurate stance you can get.

And what does being posted on SA have to do with anything? It's not like he can just go up to a CNN reporter and say 'This is what is happening'. In case you've forgotten, Ossetian civilians are just like you and me, and also happen to post on their favourite forums too. It's no different to 'Earthquake, to the internets!'

If they've even targetted it - why would they? It doesn't belong to Goergia and I doubt its a source of much if any income to them.
Isn't there revenue from the flow route?

Yeah, the BTC pipeline is the only one that can carry oil from the Caspian sea into the West without going through Russian territory.

Then it would appear thats russias motive. The more oil that travels through them the more money they make and put s them in a strong position because they could cut off a lot of oil going to europe

Most oil right now from Asia runs though Russia, it a major source of income and more importantly control for Russia, passing it though Georgia is an easy way of cutting them out, there for there is no need to keep Russia happy and no way for Russia to grab us by the balls

Correct - the pipeline has been shut down after a Kurdish attack in Turkey. It wont be back for almost 5 weeks.

On the subject of local peoples opinions, found this on The Times website:
