Konami announces PES 2009 for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

I thought PES 2008 was better than FIFA even though PES 2008 was pretty dire overall, the problem being the lag online mainly!

If they sort that, i'll be buying it!

Mate, PES2008 is SHOCKING! I played it a lot, but having sampled UEFA 2008 I can now see how poor PES is.

So many bugs and incorrectly implemented rules in PES2008 it's ridiculous.

I wont be buying PES 09, I will not give Konami another £40 for a woeful product, it could be better than fifa but I am not risking it. Rent first then buy for me.

I have been Buying konami footie games every year since the ISS on the 64 and this year I wont be.

FIFA 09 will have 3 speed settings, so if that was the main problem with 08, then 09 should still be worth a look. Based on how much you got into Pro Evo 6, I think FIFA has the foundations of a game that could do the same for you.

My nephew has fifa and I play him on local MP and for me it doesn't even come close to the woefull Pro evo of last year in local MP.

If it hadnt have been for the online lag I'd have been more than happy with last years game if it hadve worked online as well as pes6.

I just dont like the feel of fifa over evo and I'd always been a fifa buyer until the people on hear persuaded me to try pes06.

I would have too, i did initially prefer fifa (and still do online), but offline, pro evo i find the more fun game, its faster paced and enjoyable, but just so so bad online, which is a shame, as 9/10 ill play it online and not multi offline.

Because its arcadey, its suited to fast paced pick up and play games, fifa 08 can still be great with a bunch of mates having a few beers but it still is slow and is a simulation.

PES Arcade
Fifa Simulation

I would give both a game but Fifa 08 win is every category in terms of football for me.

I'm undecided on this until launch. Some years I've only bought one or the other, and sometimes both. It will probably come down as much to what my friends have bought for online play as anything else.

This year I am thinking of not buying either tbh. Too many annual franchises now for me to buy every one every year. This year footie will get missed out I think.

Then you've managed to miss all the great versions of Pro Evo, and switch over when it's already in rapid decline (While at the same time leaving FIFA just when it came good). Unlucky. :p

quoted for truth!

pes 4 and 5 (my personal fave) were awesome. pes 6 average, pes 2008 pants, although STILL better than fifa 08 ;)

uefa 2008 is where EA came good in my book & fifa 09 is gonna rock :D
