TBH i couldnt care less as I always drive to pick up orders (ChittyLink FTL) its the "principle" of how this was decided and how you define "loyal" - IMO (and this is my personal opinion) post counts do not = loyal.

Not saying they do, however they needed some form of qualifying criteria. Obviously not going to please everyone right now, but it is only a trial.

Wasn't an attack at you, I just find the negative reactions odd on here.

I agree its difficult and your always going to have naysayers I just think the "qualifications" could have been better to have satisfied more people. As I say I always drive and pick my stuff up, others arent so lucky to be able to do so. But threre are a lot of people with a lower post count that contribute more to the forums and others problems and questions than some of the allegedy "loyal" spamm0rzz - again just my opinion :)

(I also wast having a go at you ;))

I'm liking it a lot, beats the 8800GT all over the shop its awsome and with this accelero its even better, this card should hold me for a while yet, I'm hoping it will hold me into around summer next year (thats worst case scenario, I'm predicting I wont be able to afford upgrading been a student and living off student loan, I'll just have to hope I manage to get a job then might try out the 4870X2 and might even get a GTX260 at the same time to compare that to the 4870 :D, Nahalem is on the card aswell as new ram and mobo obviously and a new case, hopefully all from OcUK if they have more offers like this :p

Sounding great then. I look forward to trying it out.

Funny that you mention that you might be lacking funds in the future due to being a student then start listing things like GTX 260, X2 4870. Nehalem, Ram and Mobo on your wanted list hehe. I hope things work out and you can get all of them :).

I agree the offer is special and if it continues then maybe the profit will outweigh the delivery costs with more people buying from OCUK. If so then I can't see it ever dropping and OCUK having to hire more staff for the shop :D.

tbh some of you guys that don't qualify should carm down.

it says "For loyal OcUK forum members only" which means to me is that the people that post everyday or every other day are loyal members. example if a person registered in 2/6/2004 and only as 80 posts how is being loyal? u may only visited the forum 20 times within that time and ocuk wouldn't know..

Can you change it to all those who have spent over £500 in the last year or two get free shipping ? why should people who never purchase from here be rewarded ? there's probably a vast majority on here that talk a good game but always vote with their wallet and probably never even bought anything from ocuk.

Makes much more sense to reward "LOYAL CUSTOMERS" that "ACTUALLY" buy stuff from you ?

That's a rubbish plan, the whole idea of a promotion like this is to get people contributing on these forums, this does not single anyone out, if you want to have free shipping then contribute.

Making it so only people who have spent £500 or whatever singles a whole whack of people out. Many people just buy small time things here and there, items where the cost of postage puts it above competitor prices and this is where Free postage comes in and attracts those buyers who would otherwise go elsewhere.

No It's a much better idea maybe the amount is too high granted but if you want to reward actual customers this isn't the way to do it yes it will be good for business I am sure.

So I have paid over the odds on the +£1000 I have spent here in the last year and someone who has spent £0 gets the same reward ? doesn't sound like a reward for my loyal custom to me.

Sounds more like a way to drum up more customers rather than a reward should at least make it so you have to have ordered 1 item from here before.

but some people have more than 1 account (2 or 3) so that wouldn't work.

I have more than one account just saying would be fairer to reward actual customers.
There's probably people who have spent thousands here but because they aren't in to the forums they are denied free shipping which will certainly leave a bitter taste in their mouths.

thats why its NOT been put on the front page saying free shipping.

this is a TRIAL to see if ocuk can do it publicly....

Well then make the trial for actual customers too ? why let people who have never purchased from ocuk know about free shipping but not let the people that keep the business afloat even know about it ?.
You should start with your real customers then go to the forums just my opinion.
Anyway it's all good as they say just wanted to air my view that people of far more value to this company than non customer forum members should be made aware of the free shipping and allowed to use it.

This is my case in point
Have to say, thanks for the offer but its a shame you have made it for "loyal" forum members... totally agree you should have made it loyal actually paying customers! Ive spent tons with overclockers but have only just come on the forums...

I personally think the qualification criteria is fair. Loyalty here does not just comprise how much you've bought over the years, but also how much you've contributed to the OcUK community - forum postings are part of that (yes, I know many can spam a bit, but most contribute something worthy at some point).

Either way, it is a good step in the right direction.

I'll certainly be ordering more smaller stuff off here now, rather than from other places that offered free shipping.

If you read the thread in GD it is explained more.

We are doing SEVERAL trials for forum members, people who have not purchased from us for a while and also have in the planning stage offers for more regular customers.

This is for "loyal FORUM members" and this is why it is targeted here, you will not see this advertised on our main page as it is to promote people contributing on our forum and allow us to give something back to these people.

We are doing different trials aimed specifically to appeal to the different groups of people who purchase and are a part about OcUK.

If anyone objects to free shipping I am more than happy to charge extra shipping. :p

Nice to see that 250 posts + makes you "loyal" despite if their constructive or not, whereas someone who spends over £2k a year on average but doesnt have the "required" amount of posts miss out.

Thanks OCUK

An apparent "non-loyal" customer (must remember this next time I have a big order)

We have listed specifically that this offer is directed towards loyal FORUM members. :)

There will be more offers and trials that will apply to other people, the forum account will have no bearing on those offers but this one does. If anyone wants free shipping then they have to contribute to the community to get the reward. :)
