Been looking into getting one for a while, but my final concern now is how would you go about mounting one of these in your case?

I've seen a few 2.5" to 3.5" adapters, so you could in theory mount these in a FDD bay.

Would that work?

I suppose they don't need to be mounted, since they don't move or create much heat they could just be placed on the floor of the case... doesn't sound like a great idea to me :o

What about mounting it inside something like this?

I used the 3.5" bay , I set the drive on the lowest level on it and used just one screw to attach it to the bay.
Providing you are not lifting your case and swinging it about it will hold it just fine.

auction site looking for 2.5 to 3.5 converter frame gets you some mounting frames which are screwed on, for about £3.49....

this just sounds so wrong.....

wrt blutack- doesnt it do weird things when subjected to inc temps for prolonged periods of time? just remembering the stuff holding up a poster opposite a sunny window during my student days....

It might get a bit softer or a bit harder. It's not going to transform into a poisonous and acidic gas that will eat your components and your lungs.

I must have gotten the really cheap blutack then; mine went mostly dried out, and turned impossible to remove cleanly from either surface.

Its designed to do that! They spent thousands on developement so that it takes half of the wall away when you need to remove it years later :D

Got this mounted last night, I've got an Akasa Eclipse 62 case, I mounted the SSD on vertically rather than horizontally (and flat against the HDD cage).

It's now screwed in vertically onto the backside of the HDD cage out of view of the window.

Perfectly stable with two screws holding it in place at the top.

SATA and power connectors are nicely hidden too :)

Thanks for the ideas chaps, I think I will keep it like this until I get that 2.5"/3.5" adapter - but it's pretty darn stable where it is.
