LOL

Like the guy above spending £ 5 on an SD card that will have cost OCuK more to ship!!!

Far more business sense to keep your big spenders spending.........

Hardly pal. I think if you do the maths, £8 to post an SD Card or similar sized item in recent times would mean they make profit. In reality it would cost about a quid to send.

Hmm... I don't know, I kinda liked the community and the shop being separate. Might discourage people from speaking their mind for fear of getting banned and having to spend an extra fiver on shipping when they next order a graphics card...

Having said that, I've always said that OcUK has competitive prices but expensive shipping, and this puts them behind others of their competitors, ESPECIALLY on small orders (want to buy a fan and a stick of AS5? forget about it!), and free shipping would rectify this problem. But surely if you think free shipping will encourage brand loyalty and repeat custom, it'll work for everyone, not just forum members?

If anything the forums are now more a little more free than they have been for a very long time. We are much more welcome to suggestions for the forum and shop than at any time ever before and we are not shy from helping out when people have problems.

I would say it is the complete opposite, sort the problem out instead of making it go away. They are two completely different concept and one has not featured at OcUK for a very long time now.

Only thing that I hate are people you cannot sort out, their £5 delivery goes awol so you offer them £20 as a sorry gesture and its not enough. :o

Oh well!

That's true, I have to admit it. Just don't want to get into a situation where someone is afraid of speaking his mind for fear of getting banned, now that there's a financial incentive to stay on the right side of the law.:p (Not that it's an issue for me - I order from the shop once, maybe twice a year at most, and I've only been suspended once since I joined, so what are the odds of me enraging a mod right when I'm about to buy a huge new upgrade?:D)

If you're talking about the problem of expensive shipping for small orders then yes, it will sort it out. I just hope you eventually get round to sorting hte problem out for everyone rather than just forum members, as it's the one area where you suffer in comparison to your main competitors the most. (At least insofar as enthusiast kit is concerned.)

i really don't think ocuk would make next day delivery free for the public, maybe only royal mail service.. also most other e-retailer don't do next day delivery for free,

i say keep the next day delivery free for the forum members only would be a great idea and make the royal mail 1-2-3+ working days delivery free for the public...

EDITED: i just hope ocuk will keep this free next day shipping trial a permanent thing

I say offer incentives based on expenditure.......open to all

Whilst it's nice to "abuse" the generosity of ocuk on this offer, I'm sure if anything is going to get it stopped it's people constantly ordering odds and ends leading to them losing money on transactions.

BINGO!. Abusers that do this for small items will be the cause of this to fall. I hope most have the decency to not abuse it though.

I ordered something very small, and I might be again in a week or so. I'm not "abusing" the service as you say, I'm taking advantage of a superb offer and giving OcUK the service over another etailer. OcUK win, they don't loose.

Jeez, wind your neck in already!

Firstly, it obviously makes better business sense to attract new custom rather than to reward existing customers.

Despite this, Yewen has already stated that there will be offers in the future which are targetted at loyal customers such as yourself but you still feel the need to moan

Why not just chill out and wait to see what they come up with to reward people such as yourself?

grrrr , are people still moaning or person? ocuk can't win with some people, they've done a good thing by making something FREE!!! and people are still moaning..

c64 u qualify for FREE shipping so stop moaning and just use it. why should it bother u who gets and who doesn't. as long as u qualify for it nothing else should matter..

If it wasn't for all the moaning we wouldn't be getting an offer like this, now would we?

I say moan on! ;)

Good way to go, when I worked at a big etailer during my uni years they made quite a big margin on postage (the quoted P&P was double the cost price) so makes sense.

I'll still buy local as A) I can get it in a hour B) problems I drop it off to them C) the so called items not in stock elsewhere (eg new GPUs etc they always have on day 1)

Small items will cost next to nothing to send thanks to lower rates with RM etc.

from what i heard ocuk was already planing to better they service so i don't think the moaning made this happen..

Moaning had no influence on this one. Just a general good idea. :p

We are trialing it with no minimum order value to see what actually happens, overall it is still going well which is a good thing!
