Jade Goody has Cancer

So you only care for those who give have given you something first? I find it bizarre that you do not feel at least some empathy for anyone upon hearing they have been struck down with an illness. This doesn't mean you need to dwell on it, but surely your initial reaction isn't entirely impartial.....is it?
I'm not getting it either.

This is a pretty idiotic reason for a thread tbh. The only reason I can think of for posting this is because you know you will incite tasteless comments from the dregs of the community. So grats I guess, the morons gave you your flame war.

Blimey - bit harsh. Forgive me but I thought bringing a bit of hot off the press news to the forum which I thought people might be interested in and spark a bit of discussion would make a worthwhile topic for GD..

I'll head back to Motors then :o

I think the opinion is not so much 'yeah wikkid!!!' more 'so what?'
"So what" is equally a valid response to this situation and I would imagine most people have this opinion. Upon hearing this news, my reaction was, "bad news for her, hope she get's through it", and that's about it. To me, it's as near as "so what" as I get, but to go the other way as has been featured in this thread is really distasteful and quite sick really.

If anyone dies at an early age, they would be remembered for a long time anyway by many, when its someone in the public spotlight of course they are going to be immortalised by it.. its not really a problem :)

I hate it when famous people die, because it practically immortalizes them.

Take Kurt Kobain for example. A decent musician, but that is all - yet he is remembered as though he were some kind of god.

That isn't their fault though, people don't start a big media campaign from the grave.

But that's personal to the fans and not a decision you're entitled to make. You don't have a say in how others feel. You control your own. What does it matter if someone immortalises them?

Well, Jade Goody wise. It didnt bother me. Infact, I don't think I've actually commented on the actual fact she's got Cancer in this thread lol.

For me to care, I have to care initially.

I don't always realise I care until it happens ofcourse. For instance, When John Candy died :(

It's not a case of me taking something in order for me to care, but more them being a part of my life, However tiny. If I was into perfume or Big Brother. Maybe I'd be more interested in Jade, But she really is nothing to my life. And so I shrug my shoulders at the news.

I was happy when Diana died?

Wasn't everyone else?

Not really, I felt it was a tragedy for her family and those she helped with her charitable works but that's about it. What really grated is that she went from scarlet woman to martyr almost instantly with a quite astonishing amount of people seeming to perform a complete volte face in their opinions of her.

As for Jade Goody, it's a shame that she has cancer, same as for anyone else who gets it.

I do think something its slightly convenient that she was told this while she was in the big brother house in India, again I dont wish it anybody, but if she has used this to drum up some sort of sympathy publicity she is sick and pathetic. If she hasnt well that is just bad luck, but also from what i've read she ran back in the house shouting it, me personally I would keep it to myself and quietly leave and tell my family first, not shout it out on some crappy reality show.

She doesn't deserve the money she has, nor the press coverage. (Both of which most sufferers will be without).

why not ?

your sounding rather jealous there actually

cancer is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone. she doesnt deserve it just because shes thick and annoying. her karma for that is getting abuse shouted at her wherever she goes, people spitting on her etc. no one deserves cancer

all the people saying they dont really care i can agree with because i dont that much . its the people on page 1 saying she deserves it who im aiming at

That's another issue entirely, but it's because she's a talentless chav idiot, to be perfectly frank. She hasn't done anything to deserve the money herself, she was simply used as a media pawn. Not even against her will.

She doesn't deserve cancer, but she does deserve obscurity.

What a stupid thing to say  you honestly belive she deserves to have cancer .

We've been over this already, we're going to wait to see if she dies from cancer as Pensky has supposedly done worse things than her and he's still living. Until then the jury's out

Thing is even if you do or don't believe in Karma, if you define what it's actually meant to be it's painfully obvious that cancer is not an equivalent trade to name calling. Any one who suggest otherwise is either letting their general dislike of Jade Goody cloud the issue or is in some sort of high horse Daily Mail mode.

I for one wish her all the best and a speedy recovery. Thoughts go out to her family and kids and all that. She's not my favourite celebrity and she can be damn annoying but she raised a few smiles with me during her perfume show.

Why is this such a big deal, people are diagnosed with cancer every day and there isnt a 7 paged long thread about. She has done nothing worthy of getting all this attention.

However i dont think anyone deserves cancer, to think that is very harsh
