TF2 Heavy Update

Heavy's my second best class after sniper, so I'm looking forward to this. Only prob with being a heavy is that you can get picked off if you don't have a medic buddy.

How's it making TF2 into CS?

Just interested to know - I'm not heavily into TF2 but CS does indeed suck.

Arena Mode = Short round time, single life, 2 teams, win by killing the other team or completing the objective... sounds very based on CS to me.

I love CS and I love TF2, but Id rather they stayed seperate and played to their strenths. This strikes me as a bit of a mish mash of the 2... I mean, Engis and Medics become useless, ull be dead before you can build anything or charge an uber, unless theres a spwan time, which would be pointless. Wait around for 60 seconds, run out, get shot, die, round restarts, wait for 60 seconds....

Im not holding out much hope... but we shall see.

Yeah. I agree with you there. Doesn't sound too hot.

Medics will most definately not be useless..

In pretty much every competitive 6v6 match, you'll see a medic. Not only are these arena maps for smaller teams, they look to lend themselves well to competitive matches, and have very few (if any) pickups. The team without a medic (or dispenser) will be the team that loses.

*edit* case in point - lumber has no water. A team full of pyros will steamroll a team without a medic.

Yeah those are the conclusions I came too with the new mode, i doubt it will be something I play often as I like the death is not punished attidude of the other game types but for competitve play this will most likely end up being the mode of choice.

What he said.

I think its going to bring something fresh to the game and add some variety to the map rotation. Which is never a bad thing. And also force people to each class in a different way. I can't wait. :D

Im not so sure.

I agree medics have their uses, but I dont feel that they will be any better than other classes. in a 3v3 Im thinking something like a scout to try and capture the point, a Pyro to cause havoc and a heavy to be a [ZP] Damage Soaking Thickie [/ZP] would be a better combo than one that includes a medic.

without a spawn/built time, the engi is pointless as the round would be over before the dispencer is built.

I also hope that on small servers the admins limit to 1 of each class on a team. Playing an Arena with 3 heavys vs 3 heavys would be fun for a minuite or 2, and then get boring.

If the other team has 3 heavies you'd simply hit up a spy or whatever and kill them. I imagine it'd be highly amusing to play against 3 of the same class to be honest, especially if it's a slow moving one.

Just don't play on servers that a 3v3 :p that just sounds silly.

so when is the update released?

i think i may spend a couple of nights on COD4 to let everybody finish flustering about with teams full of heavies

I'll abuse the heavy fest to get the rest of my medic acheivements :p

Finally, there'll always be a heavy wanting to punch people when I uber them, and I'll easily rack up the heal points :)

Either that, or just spend the time playing facestab-tag :D

I haven't managed to unlock any of the pyro or medic weapons yet, so maybe having all the heavies around will help me along with that.

Either that or just give up on those ones and go for the heavy ones :D

I would like to see stats of how many people have got each unlock. Ive got the first from both Pyro and Medic, but thats just through normal play, not farming. If it shows up that a larger percentage of people have 1 or none of the unlocks, maybe valve will realise that the achievements arent the way to go. I always have and probubly always will think that the weapons should be instantly available, and the achievments should be for bragging rights like the original ones.

Just checked and I need 1 more medic and 2 pyro achievments for the 1st weapon.

Medic one I'll get when all the heavies come along for me to rack up the overall healing points I need :)

I've got 2 of the medic unlocks and none of the pyro ones. I've only got the medic ones because it's the main class that I play. Going to be very hard to get the other ones.
