Some of the opinions in this thread really make me not want to reply as you will all immediately roll out your stereotypical bigotted opinions but WTF.
At 32, I moved to Hong Kong to work. Found that Asian women are in better shape, smell less, don't need to shave their legs, don't get fat immediately after the ceremony and generally tend to stay better looking for much longer. I had an American-Korean girlfriend who was a sports physio, need I say more.
At 34, I got a contract running an out-sourced IT department for Andersen Consulting in Thailand. Discovered that Thai women were even better looking than Chinese and Filipinas. Then I met a 29-year-old divorcee who worked at a golf course in their office and from there I caught "single man's disease" and got married. When the asian tiger economies collapsed, work dried up and I moved back to England.
Ten years later, she's still here with me, we have two gorgeous boys but she still hates it here. Yes, we have invested in rebuilding her (our) house there, yes, I help out financially for her Mum who is in her 70s. There's no state pensions in Thailand and it costs me £50 a month to keep her alive and well.
Through my wife I know many Thai-English couples and many are young guys in their twenties or thirties ranging from architects to plumbers to doctors. Some have been married for decades, some still in the honeymood period. For every case of a Thai bride taking her husband for everything she can get there is a case of an English husband being violent or treating their wives as slaves.
Thai brides are not always ex-prostitutes or mail-order brides and in my wide experience, marry for what they think of as love: a husband with a job, who cares for them, who doesn't mistreat them or shout at them, who doesn't expect to be allowed a mistress, who won't give them AIDS. And they leave their beautiful hot country to come to a cold miserable place where no-one smiles and everyone judges them from behind their lace curtains and stained keyboards.
You'll note I post here using my real name unlike pretty much everyone else so there you have it, fire away from behind your pseudonyms.
