Gf just got robbed at gun point at work

The manager was muttering something about stepping up the security as it was the indian restaurant next door that had to call the police as the shop has no panic button.

Why didn't anyone in the store ring?

Just got a phone call from the gf to say some blokes came in and forced her to empty the tills in the Spar up the road from where I live.

Completely shocked, I thought this was a safe neighbourhood but I guess I was wrong :(
Not allowed to go to the station with her so I get to sit here and worry about her.

******* scum threaten and scare the crap out of a petit girl just to get a couple hundred quid :(
Redland? Seriously? It's not exactly the ghetto round there. :(

I'm glad no ones hurt, were there cameras in the shop?
Safe in Bristol?.. Isn't Bristol the UK's crack central?
Not really... :(

statistically speaking it probbably wasn't a real gun.

I guess you don't get the same reassurance from that as me..

Na I'm not saying your wrong, just, if I was a young little girl and people came into the store I worked at I wouldn't take the chance. There is a good probability your right, I even thought the same but I didn't want to start speculating :)

The Indian rang whilst it was happening! Once the guys had ran out the police were already on their way.

Looking at the mess in there they must have been making a hell of a lot of noise.

She's shaken up but I think she'll keep working there.

I see this in 2 ways, is £6/hr or whatever worth risking your life for, this could happen again? Is it not worth looking for something a bit more secure?

Or, on the other hand is it a good thing that she isnt letting this get to her and showing the criminal defiance.

Not sure.....

Now it makes sense. :)

Even if the gun had "toy gun" written in bold along the side i wouldn't take the chance - especially for a company like SPAR

To be honest, if you really cared about her you'd down at the police station offering her your support in the form of a shoulder to cry on, or even just a few reassuring words. Yet, you're sat posting on an internet forum.

Come on, everyone knows you have to post on here first, its mandatory.

QUICK TO THE INTERNET!!! :D

Yeah I get you. I wouldn't put it past her to keep working there, she's quite resilient and stubborn.

I think I'll be asking her to look elsewhere, at least a place where there's a chance of having more people in so robbery is less likely.

Aha, I just wanted to talk to someone about it and none of my friends were picking up. I worry about her so much I just need to talk to anyone even if it's complete strangers ;)

If it was my wife working there I would tell her to leave the job, but tbh I wouldn't let her work there in the first place as we all know what this country is like. It is a sad state of country we live in which is why I will be emigrating.

Cheers for the support, despite some of it being more sarcastic than others.

I'm off to the station now :)

You're risking your life more every time you get in a car...

Really? Several colleagues that have moved from Bristol to London, say otherwise but, who knows?, I'm sure south London (Brixton) and East London (everywhere!) are on par.

Anyway, to OP, atleast its all over and your girlfriend has interesting anecdote to tell people. Life experience and all that

I know this country is going down the pan alright. I mean robberies! JESUS! That never used to happen here...

..oh wait...

I see your point mate but losing a life in a car or getting injured is usually down to an accident, in this case any damage or possible loss of life would be a criminal act. So for not much money and given the choice I know id be looking for a new place of work if this happened to me. If I was in a car crash and was ok id just put it down to being what it is, an accident.

Yes but when it happens to someone you love you feel totally different.
