Publishers to fine 25,000 game pirates

so there is only about 4 of us who have downloaded/watched something without paying for it ? because everyone else who has commented seems to be acting like they never have.

if this is a good representation of the british public then there really shouldnt be a problem and sales should be through the roof.

those that are holier than the 4-5 who have admitted to downloading have
you never downloaded a game that you havent paid for ?

have you never downloaded an app which you havent paid for ?

never downloaded an mp3 which you didnt pay for ?

never downloaded or watched a porn clip that was longer than the intended trailer?(dont like women or subscribe to **** loads?).

never watched a music video on youtube that you didnt own the rights too ?

avoid most clips on the net since they contain music what ppl dont have the right to use in their clips? so youtube really is out of the question

never used google image search as there are always copyrighted images that can come up in the search which others use?

sure i pay for stuff too but im not going to deny that ive downloaded/watched/looked at copyrighted material.

there are other examples but since you can think so much when putting others down to feel all high and mighty, maybe you can put a bit of thought into what else may be someone else's work which gets used without their permission. then ask yourself have i never really done no wrong ?

When will companies realise that appointing thugs like DL will only harm their image with the community?

Only the part of the community that pirates.

Personally, I have no problem at all with codemasters hiring DL, and will continue to buy their games (if they ever release another good one :P)

Yeah, I've downloaded games in the past.

Do I pay for my games now? Without fail. Do I think I was justified in downloading games? Nope, and thankfully I realized I was harming the very businesses I want to keep in business!

a few gems in a sea of rubbish. Thats the real reason for pirating people got feed up with the rubbish.

Same old piffle. If the games are crap, then why would you bother to download them? If a handful of games are gems, then why aren't they worth paying for?

Every single time a piracy thread comes up I can't help but rant, as the opinions of some people on here just seem rediculously selfish and moronic. Every time a piracy thread comes up on here, I realize I'm beating my head against a dead horse.

I pray to god that DL manage to rake in the cash, and ward people from getting games for free.

You have to be kidding. The Games industry is growing quicker than any other creative industry. It's now larger than the movie industry and set to continue at a massive rate if the movie industry and games industry figures are to be believed. Valve's Steam, for example, experienced 200% growth last year.

The good parts of the games industry is growing, codemaster and there elk are not, ie their game have been rubbish for the date in which they are released.

i wouldnt say pc gaming is growing at all, the top 10 chart for pc gaming has basically been the same for over a year, with a few console ports as exception.

the fact is a lot of big names are starting to move away from pc or pc exclusivity. e.g Crytek, ID software, Epic. And they have said that part of the reason is money and piracy.

In my opinion that is a disaster for pc gaming, theres no true innovation if all the games have to be made to run on consoles too.

yes, yes, no, no, no

The google images one is irrelevant.. you're allowed to view copyrighted images, just not use them

some sites(porn:p) charge users for viewing their content so if someone were to use the images from their site then they would not be making any money.

do you really never view any porn ? wow

US console sales not UK PC sales or US PC sales for that matter. ;)

That's cute.

you said games industry, not PC games industry. You then even went on to say the last game you copied was on a cassette tape - I assume you didn't have a cassette tape reader for your PC?

Codemasters are a constantly growing business, which is the opposite of your statement.

why would u think a guy who watches porn must be single ? cant we enjoy both worlds:p
Why assume that every guy watches porn? :p

agreed, people always asume that cuz you watch porn you must be single. Granted that majority of the people that watch porn proberbly are single :p but still .... :D
