All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Our lot? We have no left winger, Babel plays there and he's much better than Downing. Like i said, he may well improve our squad, simply as we have no left winger and he'll give us another option but i doubt he's top4 standard.

I haven't seen much of Riera since he left City but the talk is that he's improved no end. It that's true then i'd rather have him.

I'd rather have Downing than Riera, at least he's proven in the premiership. He's at least as good as Barry in the LW role. Hopefully we can convert Babel into a right winger, because as well as he's done on the left wing, he hasn't got a left foot at all.

Wing isnt in Rafa's dictionary.

Knowing him he will prolly put him in the middle and Gerrard on the wing.

Isn't it? He's spent every transfer window since joining the club trying to sign a winger and had it not have been for Parry's incompetence we'd have signed Alves, Simao and Malouda (maybe we dodged a bullet there).

Just read a report in the Times where it's reporting that Everton have had a bid for Riera accepted....................but he's turned them down and wants to join us :p

He may well do as good a job as Barry on the left but Barry was never signing as a left winger. There wouldn't be as much of a risk with Riera coming over as most players from abroad as he spent 18months(?) with City so knows the league.

As for Babel; if we decide to play with out and out wide players then yea play Babel on the right but for the majority of the season i think Babel will play on the right and cut inside.

Its a tough call between Nani and Downing imo - infact Downing is younger and give or take equal in skill (actually just checked and Downing is 2 years older)

would take Nani every day of the week just because he is younger , its that close in skill imo although maybe Nani is better with the tricks

Nani is also more petulant

Did you just class Fabregas, Rosicky and Van Persie in the same group as Senderos? You must be mad. Senderos is garbage.

I am not classing them together. I was merley stating in a sarcastic manner (hench the rolling eyes) that we are getting rid of a lot of players without replacing them.

We just loaned out traore (Or however you spell it) to portsmouth, now we have loaned out Senderos.

Its not like we are bursting at the seams with players and they arent going to get a few games this year. We are under strength yet we still keep sending players out to other teams.

Personally I thought traore was going to have a big season, maybe rotating on the left side with left back and left winger. But obviusly Wenger has other ideas.

Just wish he would share them with us as Im not sure what he is doing anymore.

As for money, like someone said every club is in debt but they will still have funds to spend on transfers.

Can't believe how well Keane is doing in the transfers fro Sunderland! If they go down this year there's going to be some serious trouble... The quality of players he's brought in though, they should be absolutely fine this year.

Anyone have any idea on how much Chelsea got back for Sheva?

Every day I go without hearing "United have signed..." I cringe a little more :(

Nani's a bit of a fanny, just like Ronaldo used to be (and still is according to some).

After a couple of years I think he will mature in the say way Ronaldo did.

Oh, and I still want Newcastle to get relegated.

It's going to go one of 2 ways with Keane up there, he fails they get relegated he gets the sack, or they do really well he stays for a couple more years and gets some quality players in

I don't think Chelsea got anything back for him

odds on curbishley to be 1st manager to get the sack?

the club seem to be seeling his players from under him

bellamy, dyer and Ljunberg have been a huge waste of money though...

I dont think the west ham board trust him anymore in his transfer dealings

Something is defo going on at Upton Park. As much as our football is totally dull and boring with Curbs I feel sorry for him being undermined so badly by our board.

The kumb forum is going nuts today over the Bellamy news as it has since sundays result.

Selling ferdinand is a strange one tho isnt it? Isnt he doing well or is his contract nearly up and he is stalling on a new one?

Evidently he wouldn't sign a new contract so they are selling him so he can't leave on a free. The club have released an official statement saying Bellamy is going nowhere. So that means he is off. They said we wouldn't cancel Freddie's contract but looked what happened there. Things ain't looking good for us this season.

To be fair, Curbs has been pretty unlucky with his signings. Dyer, Faubert, Bellamy, Ljunberg were all big players but got injured pretty seriously. Even Parker, Upson and Ashton are constantly injured. On their day WH are a really good side but having all these players out will ruin any managers season.
