Surely with Berbatov leaving you'll need another forward though and with you paying £15m odd on Bentley you'd be after somebody who'll benefit from the crosses he can knock in.
Was he ever a realistic target though? Pavlyuchenko would benefit from playing with Bentley.
I didn't say he's a top striker. I said he's the type of forward that Spurs need now that they've signed Bentley. The only thing that makes Bentley a decent player is his crossing ability and with Berbatov leaving you're left with just Bent who's not likely to take total advantage of those crosses.
Santa Cruz isn't/wasn't a top striker but scored plently because he's good in the air and thrived on Bentley's crosses last season. Pavlyuchenko could do the same.
No i've judged it on whenever i've seen him play. And 6 in 16 games is not that great either regardless of the fact he offers very little else other than his finishing.
Maybe the problem is that a good player for Boro (or Leeds) is totally different to that of Liverpool. But i do hate Boro as you say.
Alves' running is actually, excellent. He covers an awful lot of ground to help his team out of situations, his hold up and passing play is also very good. He was excellent against Spurs, wasn't that good against Liverpool.
As for his goal scoring record, he arrived having not played for a while at Herenveen and started knocking them in for fun. He hit the woodwork twice against Chelsea at the end of last season and completely ran the show. I'd say he's done brilliantly since he arrived.
