LittleBigPlanet - Play, Create and Share.

Do you not think cooping this game with 3 other mates either locally or over the net is a potentially fantastic bit of fun?

I only play multiplayer locally anyway, so online is a none starter. Plus the fact I don't have any PS3-owning friends also means that idea's shot in the foot.

In any case this is essentially supposed to be a puzzle/platformer no? That's the sort of game I would rather play on my own to try and figure things out myself, rather than rely on some faceless pleb online who I don't even know.

Being compared to probably the best platform game ever is no bad thing, especially from Edge who are not exactly the easiest to please.

Good news then that the supplied content isn't basic, however I haven't seen anything that rivals SMW in the videos I have watched of LBP.

Already seen it, my opinion remains unchanged. I just cant get excited about that, don't see the fuss.

What's the actual point of that video? Is it just showing off the creation tools, or is it supposed to be some sort of boss? (and if so, is the player controlling the monster or the people trying to kill it?).

imagine if you could do the same thing they did to create those levels.

Yay?

I wouldn't want to, if I'm honest. Maybe that's the main reason I don't 'get' it, because I've never been into creating my own content. I just find it time consuming and tedious.

If you can't see whats so good about LBP from the videos, then you never will. Your mind is made up.

Quite probably. I will still buy it in the hope of being surprised though :)

Out of interest, tell me what you (or anyone else here) think is so good about it. I see and hear a lot of being saying how great it will be, but never actually saying why.

True but i normally find people with a negative opinion are harder to please than those with a far more open opinion to the game, likewise people who have a positive opinion will find it easier to over look the faults. Its a bit sad you dont want to play with us plebs online though, and you don't want to create anything at all, but each to there own im sure the ones who do will enjoy the game more than those that dont.:)

Day 1 purchase for me as im curious to see how it is.

Another great thing this thread has done, it made me dig out my SNES and Super Mario World. :D

Without doubt the greatest game in it's genre even after all this time.

For some of us between our job, wife/partner and children there just isn't enough time to create stuff thats worth while. I just wanna sit down, turn on and enjoy.

Was aimed more at the randoms you get online rather than anyone here in particular. Puts me off online gaming completely, which is why I stick to SP.

I've got no urge at this moment to want to start creating things in LBP, however as I said, I hope to be surprised.

^ and this. I probably get an hour a day at most to do any gaming during the week.

True not everyone will but you can have a mess a round for an hour or so every now and then just to see what you can find. I was more talking about the playing online bit i want to see how well the voice sync works lol, I work 60 hrs a week and i will make time to create stuff even if it means me not playing some other game.

got to agree - the simplicity of gameplay from the video's matches the fun and frustration had with super mario world , if no-one can see that then they probably won't enjoy the game anyway. Add the tools to make you own levels or download other created levels just in my eyes make an endless supply of gameplay hours. Then to top it off local co-op or online with friends makes this game for me AAA. Its the reason why i brought the PS3 and i just know that this game will last me many months. It looks to me that anybody that says "never been into creating my own content" then probably they will never "get the idea of this game" and probably "isn't for them", but for thousands of others just like all them people who create Halo3 maps in the forge and various other games that allow creation then there will be endless possibilities with the game.

It's a multiplayer 2D platformer with a lot of focus on solving physics based puzzles cooperatively. That's enough to make me excited. On top of that it has really nice looking creation and sharing tools that hopefully mean I'll never run out of fun levels to play with my friends and family. As a platforming fan, it sounds like a dream come true for me. Of course it will all depend on how good the gameplay feels and whether it takes off with the community, but right now it definitely has me excited.

To top the package off, it has fantastic art design and very appealing characters.

But you could always just play with people from here, doesn't have to be randoms.

Jeesh there are a lot of nay sayers in this thread.

I have never really been into platform games but I have to admit that this one looks like a lot of fun. I guess if it's not your cup of tea then fair enough - is there really any point in having a debate about wether you think it's good or not though as it's purely subjective in a game like this anyway!!!

Some of the people on here are extremely random ;)

Jeesh there are a lot of nay sayers in this thread.

I just see a few people like myself who haven't bought into the hype. Not seen anyone yet that has stated it will be complete rubbish, just people with reservations about how revolutionary and lasting it will actually be.

Whilst trying not to get sucked into the massive hype train that LBP is on I do hope it is good (and being compared to SMB by Edge helps my confidence)

Actually it better be good as I purchased a PS3 to play it. :)

the only concern i have with this game has been stated before. How good will the actual in built levels actually be. Some of them seem a little lack luster but lately after seeing a few more i think they actually hold quite a bit of promise but i guess we wont know until the game is released but i definately think every one who can should buy it!

The only worry I have with this game is how good it will be on your own. I have mates with PS3s but they're not really into this sort of game - they're beat-em-up & Super Stardust freaks.
