i suggest you go watch the video again as the incident had everything to do with when they released him from the pits
and crossing the white line is allowed at some tracks it all depends however if you wish to revisit the incident you will see why alonso was bumped over the white line

The incident I was talking about was out on the track - not in the actual pit lane

there was no other team ferrari was in the last garage
and people do not just walk about the pitlane at random lol

So you are suggesting one rule for Ferrari and another rule for everyone else - because Ferrari are the last garage a rule shouldnt apply to them (well it seems the FIA agree with you on so many levels)

Hello, I work for BBCi on the Sports multiscreen platform and have read this article for a few months now and thought I'd let you in on a bit of insider knowledge.

I'm not involved with the F1 programme itself as that is a different department, but they have to work with us on the interactive side.

Replying to previous posts, there has not been any decision taken yet with commentators although it's public knowledge that the candidates are David Croft, Ben Edwards and Jonathan Legard. You may be pleased to hear that James Allen will have no involvement with the coverage whatsoever.

Most of the senior BBC Sport team have been in China, so nothing will be decided for a few weeks yet.

BBCi will have 4 feeds - world feed, onboard, data and highlights. You will be able to choose between TV & 5live commentary except for highlights where it will be TV only. Every session will be covered this way - the 3 practice sessions will only have radio commentary if available from Sports Extra.

All our equipment is ready for HD, the rest is upto FOM and demand for it from other broadcasters.

Dam I hope that's true, The Premier channel in Germany have a very similar service which always makes me jealous.

They tested HD last year at Fuji in 1080i. There is nothing stopping them going to HD cept the on-board cameras. The FOM and other company's have not developed HD cameras small enough to fit on the cars.

I call BS on that leak as the feed comes from Bernie's trucks which as far as I'm aware will still be using bog standard widescreen cameras next year.

Unless he was referring to the BBC's bits of the programme like the pit walk, interviews etc... which is pointless.

so why do you not talk about vettel being released into the path of alonso was that not dangerous then?

i never suggested anything all i said was there was no other mechanics to be in danger as ferrari was the last garage unlike the vettel incident you choose to ignore as it happens

and you are right does seem one rule for ferrari as they have been the victim of a fine that nobody else has been given for doing much worse so your right on that one just obviously not in the way you intended

by the way where do you stand on the drive thru in monaco for kimi and dq for felipe in canada? since the fia makes the rules different for ferrari? or will you ignore that also to fit your agenda? how about the sudden rule changes to outlaw ferrari's rear wing or their floor? again that will not suit you so sweep it under the carpet

Go to Germany, Or Italy. Premier in Germany have 4 feeds to choose from when watching the F1. They have world feed with commentary, world feed without commentary, on-board feed without commentary and the data channel. The data channel is basically live timing.

Rai One in Italy have basically the same thing but the on-board is Ferrari only.

I would love the BBC to do that, It can easily be achieved on BBCi which is what Premier do. (Same sort of "press red button for interactive services" style thing.) All those feeds are available to us already if you have a huge satellite and the correct know-how.

And like he said, the BBC equipment is ready to receive HD feeds. Its just when Bernie and co decide to fork out the cash to update everything.

Still, lets hope its true and not some idiot making it up.

you missed absolutely nothing, other than the ITV crew (except martin and mark) constantly whining how Hamilton lost because ferrari cheated and should be banned.

nothing interesting happend, a ferrari fuel guy got run over though, thats about it.

Because he, like a lot of people, only see it through McLaren goggles. They just can't see both sides to a discussion, because of course, the FIA hates them.

Strange how people are bringing up past incidents like Kimi/Kubica in Canada and Alonso/Vettel...

Apart from the Canada one which *was* well talked about... the Alonso/Vettel one wasn't publicised. I don't even remember seeing it... so how could we talk about it?!

The FIA said it themselves before this race... that they are cracking down on unsafe pit releases. They started exercising their hammer in the GP2 race. But then when it came to F1 and the team being involved were Ferrari they bottled it and chicken'd out.

It will be funny if McLaren or some other team in F1 gets punished for unsafe release later this season now. They've set the precedent and now have to stick to it.

Can't have been watching the race too closely then - it got replayed several times as I recall from the highlights show. And all it drew from the commentary was 'hmm, they're a bit close'. Not 'rules are rules, they must get a 10sec penalty/grid drop/massive fine/death by firing squad'.

A fine is meant to be a penalty - that amount wouldnt even be noticed, ie completely pointless - what is "much worse"?

Agreed. The FIA might as well have not bothered if all they were going to do was levy such a small fine on them. It should have drawn a bigger penalty. Just not one that screwed Massa, since he was actually the one who saved the situation by backing off rather than trying to bulldoze past Sutil.

The extremely heinous crime of having his wheels bolted on late. What was that about Ferrari International Assistance guys?

So everything is fine unless you gain a position Saying that they might as well drive 160mph in the pitlane if you spend 4 seconds longer in the pits due to a fault to make up the lost time.
