OCZ Core SSD v2 IN STOCK!!!

would be good to see xvid encoding speed with these compared to an f1 or something as the seek time COULD make encoding a lot faster. Extracting 700mb or 4.4gb .avi and .iso would be good. XP startup time, game load times. maybe a virus scan with nod32 or something compared to an f1 or similar too. Basically to see how normal real world appz/games compare with normal drives. Synthetic benchmarks often dont mean too much which is what a lot of review sites concentrate on or only do.

Did you see my review of my WD RE3 drives? I'm keeping them, they are quiet, they make a high pitched sound, my 7500AAKS make a clunking sound, seek time is great, feels fast in windows explorer and as you can see from the benchmarks nice and fast: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17910895

I can see these flying off the shelves over the next few weeks.

I want to order and get free shipping but work's browsers are locked down and I can't put in the date of delivery. Waaah :(
I wanted one for tomorrow as well and I won't get home in time to order for tomorrow's delivery... The lesson? Work and working sucks.

Unfortunately I just invested in a coffee machine.. but I will sit back, and watch this thread with a lovely hand pulled cappuccino..

Things I would like to see:

1. HDtach - for sequential
2. Copy of a 4GB file on the SSD to the SSD.
3. Xbench score
4. Creating 2000 files in a directory (one timing), copy the directory (timed again), then deleted the old directory (timed again)

There's lots of read/write tests but they're things I'd consider doing by writing my own code - hence rather specialist.

Hi,

I would also be very interested in seeing the performance of these drives.

I'm planning to do my bi-yearly upgrade anytime before Xmas this year. I always got a Dell Dimension in the past and bought, over time, upgrade bits from OCUK. However, my plan is to get a purely dedicated games PC from OCUK this time. The main thing I want this PC be able to do really well is cope with FSX. From what I have read in many forums, inc OCUK forums, I need max CPU power and a fast HD, also a decent GFX card for other games that are on the horizon like Crysis Warhead etc. I was planning on getting a pair of raid 0 F1 drives, as I have a pair in my current Dell and they have sofar been the best performing drives I have had. Alas, FSX still takes a while to load up and while flying, there are still too many blurries, which I believe is down to CPU and HD power.

Anyways, my interest is twofold, I would very much like to see if these drives would outperform my current raid 0 F1 drives, would there be a significant difference in load times in both OS, games and especially FSX? I presume doing raid 0 on 2 SSD is pointless, would they perform the same as 2 seperate drives?

My second interest/question is, not relevant to this thread so much though, I have been keeping my eye on the new pre build systems available on OCUK but it will be unlikely there will be one specifically for my needs. I presume OCUK would build a PC to my specifications and needs? If so, is there anyone at OCUK that specifically deals with that or someone I could talk to within the next month or so about building a system(email/phone)?

Thank you in advance.

I just ordered a 60gb one, going to put my operating system (vista 64bit) and the games i play allot on it and use a 500gb to store all my music and big files.

a few things i was wondering was.

1. will the drives be ghostable.
2. how do you mount it inside you pc. 2.5-3.5 convertion kit etc.
3. are there any special setting when formatting the drives.

I've been trying to follow these drives, thinking of getting one. Can I just ask someone to clarify in very layman terms what the difference is between the V1 and V2, and why the V2 is missing a couple of GB- what has it been reserved to do?
cheers
