Two must see Warhammer Online Vids...

Hmm, were these videos meant to impress? They seem to have had the opposite effect on me, having watched them I'm now less likely to get the game.

Yeah - doesn't seem to be one to get me hooked - now something on a similar thread but Warhammer 40K - that might be a different story

Same for me :(

Graphics look worse than WoW's.
Low res textures, minimal objects in the environment, poor animation.

I really hope this is on a low-res setting or I won't be getting this at all.

As far as i can tell from reading other posts the high res textures and AA filtering have been disabled for the beta, why should low graphics ruin a game for you anyway, Its not as if WoW has brilliant graphics and its still fun.

It wasn’t the graphics that bothered me, okay they don’t look spectacular or anything but they look okay. It was the combat itself, it just looks kinda slow and boring, not sure how else to describe it really. It may actually be much better when you are playing it, but this is the impression the video gives me.

Well he is probably low level and the game is mainly about RvR, watch some RvR video's they seem to look a lot better than the PvE and its what made me pre order it.

same, gfx i can forgive, but the combat just looks sluggish, whether that was the guy making the vid being deliberately slow and not going on an RSI inducing button spamming parade to "show off" some of the moves i dont know time it takes to skill rubbish mobs its gonna take an age to grind and get to a point where you can enjoy the fun parts of the game

Try this video, its at least got more going on in it.

Depends what you define as the fun parts of the game, if its RvR, you can do that from level 1, so you dont need to grind to get to a point where you can enjoy it :)

it looks just like another carbon copy of WoW, what exactly does WAR have except RvR (which WoW has anyway but on a smaller scale) that should make me buy it?

Well WoW doesnt have RvR, it has factional PvP. But thats an entirely different subject matter :)

What does it have except the RvR that should make you buy it?

To be honest, nothing. Its all about the RvR. Whether or not thats enough for each person to buy it is of course a personal choice. For me it is, for others it wont be. :D

To offer an analogy, its a lot like asking what does Call of Duty 4 have that Battlefield 2 doesnt that should make me buy it. The answer is of course, also nothing (in fact one could argue that CoD 4 actually has less , as it doesnt have the vehicles), but some pick CoD4 over BF, and vice versa. They merely happen to be 2 games of the same genre (similar to WAR and WoW). All down to individual choice :)

The graphics in the beta were much more detailed, and better overall than WoWs. Google for WoW War graphics comparisons.
Regarding the videos, of course it looks boring as the guy is literally standing still and pushing a button every so often. He just made the chars and doesn't know how they play. Any game could look as dull if they did the same as that guy.

It inst so much the graphics that bother me, in fact i actually prefer them to WoW. Neither is it the game play shown in the above video's. Its more the fact that it isnt anything new.
I played L2 since open beta, it was my first "real" (paid) MMO, before that was runescape.
I quit L2 a few months back but more because of work commitments than because i was bored of it. Then i decided to give WoW a try so i played the trail, upgraded to a full account and then quickly got bored.

Now i have some time spare to play an MMO again but for me WAR just doesn't seem to bring anything new at all, that's why im struggling with it. The combat seems identical, the interface seems identicle :/
Blizzard should franchise WoW, it would save other developers so much time in cloning it.

The WoW interface is virtually an exact replica of the AC2 interface, so really Blizzard should be a franchise of Turbine :) , although to be fair, most modern MMOs are heavily influenced by EQ1, so maybe everyone should be a franchise of Sony ultimately :D

Seems a bit better, thanks.

Is there any reason for limiting the beta to medium quality? Is the high quality side of the game not ready or broken?

It was mainly done because graphics dont need testing, the game mechanics were the thing that needed testing, so there was no need to bloat the client with high res textures just to test game mechanics.

I know what you mean about new things, as much as I love (or used to love) MMORPGs, it's all the same after a while. The fact that WaR has PvP integrated into it's core is what will make me play retail. While the combat is nothing new, being able to viably PvP from level one in an open world with objectives to fight over (first keeps from level 10+) is fantastic imo and ime from beta. Most MMOs (planetside apart) have PvP tacked on, WaR is PvP with PvE too if thats your thing.
Playing with friends whilst chatting on ventro is fantastic.

as said previously RvR but another aspect is it is an entirely differant universe and gives you a chance to start over on a new game rather than joining a game where their are millions of experienced players that have way more credential's than you.

Theirs an entirely differant lore structure and a differant community, i would expect this game to feel entirely differant to WoW but have the same feeling.

Trolls have no basis for any arguement ever, wouldnt bother with the reply tbh ;)

Hehehe, the faith in people side of me cant believe that peoples lives would be so empty as to troll forums for something to do, so I like to believe that there is reason behind a post rather than just emptiness :D

The realist side of me disagrees with the faith side of me, but for curiosities sake I am letting the faith side go with this one :)
