If there was a 'Team GB' why are Scots celebrating their medals separately?
When is the rest of team having a parade?

For the same reason as there was an open top bus in Mansfield for Rebecca Adlington and one round Cardiff for the Welsh contingent. Why should local communities not put something on?

Full parade in London is October 19th I believe.

Because they are anti-English.

Very true.

Look in shops

Scotish beef/spuds/strawberries, Welsh lamb/cheese/veg, UK Pork/ UK chicken/UK milk etc..!!

Scots won't buy english, welsh won't buy english, all will buy UK...

You'll never see a george cross on a bag of carrots and nearly all are english..

Short and simple this is the answer, celebrating triumphs of locals. If the hometowns of the other athletes don't wish to do the same or the other home nations who make up Team GB choose not to do so that doesn't mean that Scotland are at fault for doing so.

I didn't realise that carrots were differentiated on the locations where they were grown. In fact I've never chosen vegetables on that basis, nor anything else for that matter with the exception that I'd generally pick local produce in preference to that from further away, mainly because it will hopefully be fresher.

Really? I never buy vegetables from Tesco because they source a lot from Israel, ok I'd never buy anything from Tesco anyway but thats beside the point.

Plenty of vegetables I pass over in Sainsbury's because they are from Israel.

Flags are typical used to show its a home grown product (UK) as apposed to from the EU or further.

Some supermarkets will give a county on the label, others just the defra standards (country, class, packer code, display untill etc..)

Localy grown dosn't mean localy packed... some products do whole laps of the country to make use of cheaper contracts etc. I know of (welsh)lamb being sent to N ireland to be packed and brought back with the welsh flag on it.

And much of that is the organic ranges and non seasonal veg such as celery and new potatoes!

Save the birds, carbon stamp on them instead!

I rather meant that you don't tend to find products labelled as "Swahili aubergine" or "German sweetcorn" - the country of origin doesn't tend to be as synonymous with perceived quality as say "Scotch Beef" does.

I'm aware that products are grown in a variety of locations and shipped through even more, that is why I'd usually try to pick the product that is closest geographically. Contrary to seemingly popular belief this isn't anti-English.

This is true, it isn't as simple as locally grown being locally packed but without (very) detailed investigation it can be impossible to find out easily where they were packed.

This is veering quite a long way off the topic of a local medal parade though and the link is becoming more tenuous.

I don't mind Scotland celebrating its citizens' success just wondering why decide to differentiate after the Olympics instead of before and not having a Team GB, rather Team Scotland, Team Wales, Team England.

If Scotland can celebrate it today why is it taking England so long to doa parade ?!
The athletes will be freezing in October and likely to pull a muscle in cold conditions.

WTF has Israeli carrots got to do with medal parade?

After many edited attempts at posting a coherent and rational argument as to why Scotland has no need to time synch themselves to whatever any of the other countries choose to do, I've decided just to say that we're doing it because we're better than you :o

Waiting for the paralympians to finish up and get back home to join in?

1) The London parade will be a touch longer than the Edinburgh one which was a simple run down the Royal Mile. Organising policing and road closures on that scale takes a bit of doing.

2) The date probably co-incides with school half term holidays.
