Two must see Warhammer Online Vids...

its a WoW clone because WoW has become a lot of peoples yard stick

Unfortunately this means that:

Low gfx = WoW
Fantasy = WoW
Single button based attacks = WoW
Traditional standard UI = WoW
PVP = WoW
PVE = WoW

you get the idea, mmos will always be compaired to WoW, some in more ways than they should despite the fact that most of the concepts employed by mmos including WoW have been around since the beginning. Though even i concede that low end gfx are something i compaire to a WoW technique, thats it though

Hehe, and of course as nearly every major MMO (both prior and post WoW) contains those things, it means that most major MMOs are WoW clones (regardless of whether they came out 6 years before WoW or 4 years after :) )

The logic side of me fails to understand that logic :D

Who's trolling? I watched the vids.....Having played WoW to death theres nothing I see that makes me want to play this. To me it seems to look and play just like WoW. Sorry if you dont like hearing that.

I did say apart from aesthetics. Perhaps you could elaborate slightly on what else about the game is a WoW-clone apart from those?

yeh unfortunately WoW opened the mmo market up to all the idiots who now think that because their hunter had t5 gear that they are experienced mmo players, because as we all know mmo's didn't exist before WoW ...

Wave your hands in the air, like you just dont care ! :rolleyes:

reading that has actually opened my eye's a bit more to what WAR is really offering. Ok it looks kinda like WoW does, but does that really matter?
Maybe i'll give it a go after all :o

I posted that before reading it properly, it's a bit out of date now, but covers the bases. WAR will not be revolutionary, but it does enough right (which no other MMO does right now) to make me pay to play.
While there are plenty of bugs (or was as CB ended), WAR gave me a feeling I haven't felt since the days of UO and DAoC - so it's doing something right.

So ..... lets see.

High Gfx, Not Fantasy Based, Not Single Button Attack, Not Standard UI. And if we then consider every MMO ever will have PVE and most likely PVP of some form.

Now i think The Above would be close to AoC and lets be honest that was a pile of crap. Just because a game has similar idea's to wow doesn't mean its going to be worse.

I guess they keep making newer cars for the sake of it, because at the end of the day they all have 4 wheels and you travel in them ?

WOW will always be seen as the game that MMOG copy because for 99% of WOW players its their first MMOG.

WOW brought nothing new into the world of MMOG i played it once and i had seen all the stuff before in games like DAOC,LOM, L2, etc.

If u like WOW fine but dont come out with crap that games are WOW clones it just makes you look like a idiot fanboy.

Exactly.

WoW was my first mmo, oddly i dont think this at all.... maybe i have brains :confused:
or maybe i dont either way meh lol

I don't know AoC for me (I have slagged it off till the cows come home) could have been really good if

  • featured larger persistent world with maybe slight loading for chunk zones
  • more content through the game that requires grouping (I hated playing Age of Hayley)
  • casters had to use combos too e.g. like waving their hands to cast :) (more even playing field).
  • end game PVP that was advertised

All the other bugs and annoyances I could have put up with till they were sorted

aye one thing that really gets me with AoC, yes it looks great, but compaired to other mmos it feels very confined, true it means there is no "wasted" space, but it makes it feel more rpg with other players than mmorpg

I hope that there is the same type of crafting system in WAR as there was in DAoC, where crafted pieces' quality was rated as a percentage and getting 100% armour cost a lot of money but the benefits were massive. 100% player made armour was the best armour you could get and it wasn't locked to a character so after you were done with it you could sell it on.

I have confidence that WAR will rock.

No armour or weapon crafting is going to appear in WaR - I guess to stop the playermade stuff making the PvE/PvP stuff redundant.

Ah man.. I used to love the player made armour and weapons in DAoC.

I'm sure it will still rock. I am a PvPer so WAR seems right up my street.
