Slow transfer rate on Icybox 4220 ???

Hi,

Finally bought the Icybox 4220 and got 2 * Seagate 1Tb drives, mirrored.

However it seems that file transfer is very slow, as it is suppose to be gigabit network. Wasn't expecting loads but I'm only getting about 7 megs a sec.

Know it isn't the switch as I've tried 2, and transfer PC to PC I'm getting a steady 30 - 35 megs.

Any ideas ?

COMPLETELY normal!

I get 8mb personally but this is just to a spanned drive (not mirrored).

You have to spend £400+ on an enclosure to get anywhere near the transfer rates you're expecting

Sorry to say, but you should have done some reading up, 7mb is more than respectable and its more than enough to stream HD\Bluray\HD DVD.

It "supports" gigabit lan, but doesn't use it, and actually runs better over a 100 megabit lan.

Did another quick test yesterday and between two pc is more like 50. Is that what I should be getting ?

And yeah didn't expecting it to be that quick but thought it be more like 15 mb/sec.

Streamed 2 HD films of the icybox and it was fine so not too bothered.
