Any plans for smaller WD black editions? (250,320,500) ?

doubt it, they wanna get lots of £££ cant see them doing a 320gb version otherwise they would make a small profit. The black drives are only marginally faster, dont know why everyone is so interested in them, a lot more ££ for VERY little speed increase.

will probably go for 2x 320gb RE3's

any chance of a deal slackworth? i see those x90 icyboxes have sold like hot cakes since i told you to stock them? ;)

The difference is £18.80 vs the F1 ATM on This Week Only - not bad for a bit more performance and 2 years extra warranty. That swung it for me anyway!

Read the FAQ and the black is only on offer for this week, next week will be much more than £18.80 difference.

Because they're the best. Not everyone is bothered about value for money plus the Samsung's seem to be getting a bashing reliability wise at the moment.

Unfortunately the drives are likely to go up next week rather than down. The $ has been falling all week and is set to get lower still through the coming months.

Life's too short to worry about what amounts to a curry and a pint for a component that holds all your data! That's why I went for the WD, I'm sure the Samsung is every bit as good in real terms, just feel more comfortable with the WD...

I apologize if I'm gate-crashing this thread, but does anyone know if WD are gonna do a BIGGER drive, ie something to compete with the new Seagate 1.5TB ?

no info out yet rocketman but manufacturers will be releasing 1.5tb and 2.0tb drives over the coming months.

Hi WD is working on it's next generation technology which will be 500GB per platter. This means that you will see 1.5TB and probably 2TB late next year.

he works for WD (or at least says he does in his posts :) ) they wouldn't put competitors on their own site
