More crytek "piracy" BS

You don't even know when these interviews took place. They might of all been on the same day, but sites won't all rush to publish them straight away. It's not like Crytek are releasing a statement every week about the state of PC piracy.

Doesnt make any difference, over the last lot of months theres been quite a bit of cryteks piracy talk and it usually comes hand in hand with interviews revolving around warhead. Ive not seen a developer whine so much about something they knew full well about years before the game was even released.

Piracy is a factor on consoles and pc, has been for years so i dont see why crytek seem to think they have some sort of special case on their hands.

Christ help us if even 1 person dloads warhead, yet more whining on the horizon.

yep. maybe they should just bend over and take it?

Most other pc devs do, doom 3 was by far one of the most pirated games ever by all accounts but i remember carmack saying in a blog that despite the piracy it was also selling very well.

Im just suprised crytek are even bringing out warhead at all.

Of course it matters. The interviews will all be on the same day and piracy will probably be mentioned in every interview. And because sites all don't publish stories at once it makes it seem like Crytek keep bringing it up.

Piracy is a factor on consoles and PCs and has been for years. Do you want them to just bury their head in the sand and pretend it doesn't happen?

I brought it but waited until it was priced below £20. I waited and watch these forums and as soon as I saw all the comments about performance and it being a short game I figured it wasn't worth paying over the £20 mark.

Although I did enjoy the game all the way through including the alien spaceship I am still glad I didn't pay full price. The only reason why I've pre-purchased warhead is because I could find it for £17.99 on pre-order.

I think the sales for warhead will be much better because of this.

Well if thats the case sites must be holding interviews from late last year as theyve been blabbing about it since then.

As for them burying their head in the sand, crying about it at every opportunity isnt exactly making the problem go away is it? And their rationale for patch dloads = illegal dloads is laughable at best.

It's hardly every opportunity, as I said they have media events and interviews would have taken place then. As far as I know there's been piracy talk when they talked about the sales of Crysis after launch and now again when they announced Warhead.

They're hardly crying about it either, they're making sure people know the reason they're not going to be making anymore exclusive PC games after Warhead.

I thought crysis had seld quite well? they had at least broke even

People don't spend 3 years creating a product to break even. Especially when they could spend half the time making a crap game for consoles and make the same amount of money back.

They probs can't face the fact the game never lived upto the hype, great gfx and sucky gameplay, then the god awfull framerates.

I understand that, but they haven't exactly lost out. Does anyone know much profits crysis has made? I read somewhere a few weeks ago that is quite a lot.

People are quick to slate them for moaning but they are a business and businesses need money to survive, to put food on employees' tables. Pirates screw that all up, especially in large download volumes that would've otherwise accounted for a considerable amount in sales revenue. And you guys know it.

Yeah, because EVERYONE who downloaded it would have actually bought it.

Perhaps they should have thought twice about releasing such a buggy, slow POS and then more people would be buying it.

And before you accuse me of being a nasty pirate, I bought it.

I brought it, to be honest if it played like we was told then i am sure more people would have brought it, there is a few on this forums who have said they willn't play it/buy it until it runs how they like or until they buy a better pc.
When you get matey saying how it will run and when it shipped it wasn't running no where near to what was said, it will get a lot of negative comments and now they keep on about pirates and the people who feel that crysis runs like crap and was lied too willn't feel sorry for them.

Edit:- the thing is, it never sold as many as they hoped and blamed pirates and not because it needed such a high spec pc

I bought it too. Preordered it a few days before it was due out. Though I kind of wish I hadn't and won't be buying warhead unless its something special.
They gave up on a game that I paid for after a matter of months, why should I give them more of my money?

When did they exaggerate anything? If you can't watch videos, read reviews and form your own opinion maybe you should be in the console section.

Crysis on consoles would "sell factors of 4 [to] 5 more."

What are these guys smoking, the game sold over a million on the Pc so they expect to 4 to 5 million copys on the console, most fps dont sell that much on the consoles.

Don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but Call of Duty 4 is around 10 million copies and Halo 3 is around 5 million I think. So with the advertising EA have I'm sure they could have sold 4 million copies.
