More crytek "piracy" BS

They didn't even fix the random physics bugs where one of the korean guys would get stuck in mid air occasionally.

Did anyone else get this?

lol read the forums there was plenty having problems and I mean plenty.
If you look at my sig you will see it was more than enough to play the game. You only had to look at the list of fixes in the last patch to see they had a problem.
I paid good money for it and expect it to work

Just did a search. Only saw one person that had a problem with it locking up but it was his system that was causing the problem because it was also locking up with CoD4 and other games.

Who knows. PC sale numbers are hard to find. But I bet the Battlefield series has sold a lot. Especially in Europe.

I don't see why Crysis couldn't achieve 4 million sales across the PS3 and 360 if it had come to consoles and not the PC.

Even across 3 platforms I would be doubtful it would sell that much, but that wasn’t what I was saying they expect to sell 4-5 million on the PC alone.

I loved Crysis I just think crytek had very unrealistic target for sales targets.

This is not the only forum on the net. Try some of the proper gaming sites and all will be revealed. Plus if there was so few with problems why so many fixes and i one patch.

You said:
What are these guys smoking, the game sold over a million on the Pc so they expect to 4 to 5 million copys on the console

I'm sure I will find posts with people having problems. Doesn't mean it's the game, could still be the users system at fault.

And I don't think there's a correlation between the amount of people having probelms and the amount of fixes that are released. I'm sure they just try and fix as many bugs as they possibly can.

You just said it your self

Amount to the same they have problems with there software not our systems.

When did they exaggerate anything?

The dx9/10 jungle fight vids were most definately exaggerated, the game requires mods applied to come up near that level of visuals (and imo even with mods the game still doesn't look as good as those vids made out). I would also agree that crytek exaggerated on system specs needed to run the game, in most cases some of their mid to lower end cfgs barely ran the game at all.

One thing may people picked up on though was almost any time the game was at a show crytek were VERY reluctant to show what res was being used. They would show settings but in a lot of cases the res was not mentioned.

That was further reinforced by the fact that the game was shown most of the time on an lcd tv with a low input res. As obviously the game on a 24" monitor at 1024x768 would look pretty crap, having a 40" tv using 1024x768 vga input for example the image wouldn't appear stretched out or distorted as it would on a large pc monitor.

I'm tired of them acting like if it wasn't for illegal downloads crysis would have been the next Halo 3.

Anyways I bought it on release, have downloaded the patch 4 times now for re-installs, guess I should have bought the game another 3 times huh?

Dx10 Jungle Fight video was an engine demostration wasn't it? Not a Crysis demonstration.

System specs have always got to be taken with a grain of salt. There's too many variables.

I don't think showing the game on a HDTV means they're lying or exaggerating.

Hello there :)

This game is so bad i wouldnt buy it never mind download it :p, if i had downloaded it i would get them to pay me back the cost of 2 disks and the time it took to download ;)

The jungle fight vid simply said "CRYSIS dx9 jungle fight". Nothing more or less. To just about anyone that seen the vids this represented gameplay, there was nothing from crytek saying otherwise and indeed nothing in the video saying otherwise. If it wasnt intended to represent the game a disclaimer in the vid or a statement from crytek should have been available.

As for the tv argument, it indeed can be classed as exagerrating. People see a big 40" display and first thing that comes to mind is a large res. As stated crytek were very vague on the res even up to the late stages of development. A large screen tv let them show lower res gameplay without the performance impact assicated with larger res while maintaing the illusion that the res was higher than it actually was.

Just watched that video, and it looks pretty similiar to the game I played. I was playing on Dx9 in High settings. So I can imagine in Dx10 with the extra shaders with everything on Very High that it would look like that.

As for the TV, no consumer would have been at the press events so they wouldn't of seen the size of the TVs. What they would have seen was the videos, reviews, previews, screenshots before launch. There was even a playable demo, so it's not like they've tried to trick people into buying the game under a false pretense.

I bought it like I buy all my PC games.

Gfx were good but game was really just a Far Cry1.5 mod set in Korea. Crytek did mislead people about the hardware specs but thats life the game was playable and it did look good so I got my money's worth.

At the end of the day you cannot try and justify why pirate it or any other PC game as no-one is forcing you to buy it are they. Yet you are chosing to download it even though you know it illegal and I bet most pirates have no intention of buying it anyway (look how heavily COD4 was pirated on the PC) as they justify to themselves that because they spent £££ on the best hardware its their right to get free games as the world owes them or some other BS excuse.

By pirating PC games you are just letting all the devs know that PC games are not worth making as all are designed to make a profit as they are created by professional companies not charities.

Carry on not buying PC games and you will be forced to either get an inferior console or wait longer and longer for less PC games.

Luckily for the people who do buy games the devs are fighting back by including more online activation (bet Warhead will have the latest Securerom) or as in Konami's case going STEAM only for Silent Hill5 (US version only EU gets DVD 3 months later).

Uh yea, coz no one ever pirates games on consoles? I think they are in for a shock...
