How often are our defensive midfielders out of position though? Very rarely. The problem is when we get the ball Rooney is 5yrds from the player with the ball and 40-50yrds out of position.
Then there are the free-kicks he gives away and our weak-point is defending set-pieces.
The fact is, Rooney gets stressed and puts stupid tackles in, dangerous tackles. He got a suspension for bookings last year and came back and nearly got another suspension for more bookings. It's ridiculous. If he didn't give stupid fouls away I wouldn't mind, but he's better off leaving that to Tevez because Tevez doesn't lose his head as easily nor does he put ridiculous tackles in our foul as much.
I think everyone knows that I believe Tevez does everything better than Rooney, and I think everyone is starting to see that now bar those fiercely loyal to Rooney or the English mentality.
Unless Rooney starts playing football instead of prancing around the pitch doing stupid things or making the wrong decisions, trying fancy football that he's not capable of, dinking in balls instead of trying to beat his man, staying in position and actually managing to stay onside when he is, then I'd seriously be thinking of selling him next summer.
It's not unusual for a players progress to slow down or stop, but to see someone actually go backwards on what he had by such a ways, especially on a player in his very early twenties, it's frightening.
The simple fact of the matter is, Rooney has zero fear factor now. Teams in the EPL and teams in Europe simply aren't afraid of him because he's so predictable in his movements and actions topped with the fact that he's so easily riled.
