What league was that? Didn't quite catch it...oh yeah premier league.
Lower league clubs are getting ****ed to high heaven because of take overs like this.
Why doesn't some billionaire go and invest in Wrexham, Luton, Bournemouth, Rotherham etc etc
Getting a team from League 2 or 1 or even the Blue Square Premiership all the way to the top and winning everything in site would be an amazing acheivment, far more than chucking £500m + into a premier league side and winning the premier league a couple of times.
You would save a king's ransom in the purchase price alone - but the time it takes to get to the EPL would be at least 2 - 3 times as long as the Man City project imo
Man City cant be a regular in the top four for 4 years at least (it surely has to be 10/11 or 11/12 before they even finish in the top 4 so surely 14/15 before they are actually a part of the big four from regular appearances at season's end)
Jan transfers dont mean much because the best players are stil playing in the CL etc (in most parts) and cup tied in other comps - so its really going to be Next xummer before they can really get going
Obviously bringing a club from the lower leagues will take at least one year longer than that per league and possibly a lot longer - it could easily take 15-20 years to bring a club from the Blue Square league into a regular position in the top 4 (it would be VERY admirable for one investor to do it, but not many want to hang around for that long)
Its difficult to see who and where though.
I wouldn't change the back four for example. I'm not keen on Gallas and don't think he should be Captain but I can't see who we could buy as an adequate replacement. Players like Terry and Vidic don't grow on trees. The back four overall are very experienced.
A partner for Fab is the only position that did probably need filling with someone with more experience.
Fair enough - all I was thinking is that it didnt seem as though AW/Arsenal even tried to get anyone, how do you know a player wouldnt want to move if you dont ask (the club of course
)While its admirable that AW wants young players to groom - I think you may have the same issues you did middle to end of last season, younger players getting tired with the few experienced players getting injuries for crucial games
Still be a top 4 team, Im just not sure AW or Arsenal should "settle " for that
