games for 56k..... :(

anyway :p so yea what games are still slightly online playable with 56k, in vein hope i tried tf2 and such but pinged around the 1500 mark so im guessing thats a no no :p

ive just dug out delta force: task force dagger and swat 3, as i seem to remember playing those online and it wasnt too bad. i have ultima online on hybrid but that gets pretty laggy cos theres loads of people on screen.

any other suggestions that i could play, its only for a week or so but im going nuts :p also is there still any community for swat 3 or they all moved onto the 4th?
 
May i ask why you are still on 56k?
Try Counter Strike 1.6 - you will get around 200ping, but its playable. I remember those days.... 5 years ago.
 
Actually, 56k isn't that much of a problem.

I had to deal with it a month when we first moved in. Most new games are playable on 56k, its just trial and error. The older classics like Unreal Tourny, HL1+MODS etc are all playable online. I even had 2 eve accounts running on 56k :D

Team Fortress 1, ping between 60-150 for most servers for instance.

Its finding a server close you yourself that also helps :)
 
lol do people still play these games tho? (not runescape.. been there and not going back lol ) and the reception would be too rubbish where i live for the dongle, and well ill have 16mb con in like a week.

i tried UT99 but couldnt find servers, could try TF1 as i have the HL disk so woudlnt need tooo much patching i hope, installing DF:TFD and hoping there is still a community.. i doubt it, but might try swat 3 cos thats might still have one

What he said. Seriously if you can't do without gaming for a week, you really need to find some other things to do. Just go to the pub, always works for me and you'll find the week flys past.
 
lool i do all that stuff too :p go play pool, hang out with mates, spend the weekend drinking, maybe a night or so in the week too, watched all my dvds, its just like when i wana shoot some people online at a time like now ive very limited :p hehe and well i also live a 30 min drive away from town, which is where all ym mates are so i cant really go out on a whim, otherwise i just end up in town with nothing to do on my own.... haha

ahhh i remember that helicopter game :p drives me nuts after a while. and well i got my student house in town but we havent sorted out the internet yet, i.e. there is none, and ive tried lookign for wireless but they all secure :p

No nice neighbour with a free wi-fi acess point (bt openzone etc) or one willing to let you use their wi-fi for a few days?
