Armed Forces = No Respect

It is prejudice. end of. You can't ban a whole group of people because of the actions of a few.

If you do have some more serious issue with the Army, they are really just doing what they are told. If you don't like our foreign policy stop letting in the 50% of the people who voted Labour...

They are a private business and can choose to admit (or not) whomever they please - remember the story recently about larger women being barred from a nightclub?

That being said, it's still disgraceful, but they have broken no laws.

Why do people have so much contempt for the armed forces?

BUrnsy

its things like this that really boil my blood, its an absolute disgrace. People in the armed forces deserve nothing but respect

What a stupidly swathing comment. The ones who behave and do an admirable job, certainly. The ones who act like yobs who've been trained to hurt people, not so much.

If you have a problem with a few youths do you ban everyone under 21?

Burnsy

Do you also disagree with clothes policies of no tracksuits, trainers or caps in clubs and bars?

The reason the hotel's banned forces is probably because of many bad experiences of squaddies or sailors booking a room and getting wasted or taking a hooker there and getting coked up and causing trouble.

Of course the hotel have a right to admit or deny whoever they choose

I don't believe this is true actually. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you're only allowed to restrict people for certain limited reasons. I remember a case a few years back when a B&B was forced to accept gay couples or close, they chose to close in the end since they were christians and wouldn't condone that 'behaviour' in their home.

Can't say I have any contempt for them, and I have respect for the difficulties they must face doing their job. But I'm not proud of them, at least not this generation, there's noimmediate threat to our country, I don't believe any of the currently active Servicemen are defending our country as such.

They are all trained to hurt people as well as help people.... The ones like act like yobs, take drugs etc are the minority, there are over 100,000 personal in the army and you here 1 or 2 stories now and again about trouble being caused. The media will always focus on the bad and rarely on the good.
There will be bad apples in every job, im one of the people that doesnt focus on that though

But people in service are merely following the orders of the government of the day... they didn't choose to engage in conflicts in Iraq...

And that goverment was voted in by the people that live here so ultimatly it is there own fault for voting in the goverement...

That's no excuse. "Just following orders"

it is when they are doing nothing illegal...

Unless of course they want a court martial, maybe get kicked out of the army. Wouldnt that look good when trying to get a job outside of the army..

Very few people were in favour of the Iraq war. And the invasion would have happened regardless of tories or labour being in power.

But at least have a clear concience. I'd rather be unemployed, then be in a place where I'm shoot people in there bleeding country, because I'm an invading force.

I bet the german soldiers thought the same, when "liberating France"

The only stories I can remember reading about our army in the news usually involve drugs, rape, ill treatment of prisoners and suicide.

From the stories I have heard from friends in the services I have been totally put off them.

Yes of course they are the only stories.

Hmm, the article doesn't really say much of the incident. Knowing hotels around here I'd probably like to know in what state and what time he arrived at the hotel for a start.

Rumour has it that around here a few hotels have banned medic parties lol :p
