Most suprising movie deaths

Quite surprised when Steven Seagal bought it in Executive Decision.
You ****, that was my first thought and I was sure nobody would have posted it yet. :p

John Travola in Pulp fiction!
The Blonde girlfriend in AVP Requiem.
Samuel L Jackson in Deep Blue Sea :D
The above are all good shouts also, I'm struggling to think of any better examples.

Joe Pesci's character in Goodfellas.
Did you expect him to survive the film? Or do you mean how sudden it was? (which I would agree with).

I agree with Sam Jackson in the deep blue see, classic moment as you knew something was about to happen, i remember all my mates burst out laughing when it happening as we though it was so funny.

Dno if this fulfills the OP but I always wished John Coffey didnt die in The Green Mile - just thought/hoped it would play out differently...

ps3ud0

I know its not a movie but:

Spike in bebop

I was gonna say the departed, but beaten to it i guess oh and when Luca Brasi gets whacked in The Godfather, never saw that coming.

Seagal in Executive Decision was the first one I thought of too. Never expected so many people to remember it! At the time he was pretty much at his most popular having just done the sequel to Under Siege, and it was a mainstream movie, so when he went it clearly showed it was a money move to get his name on the film.
