Does anyone watch UK situation comedies?

The newest UK sitcom I've watched is probably Extras. Nothing else has caught my attention really. But then I don't watch TV that much. :P
 
6 a series just isn't long enough. The americans can be a bit overkill with 22 or whatever but I'd love a balance like 10-12. Peep show has 6 episodes and then its gone again for a year or so. That program is pretty hard to make they way its shot though
 
Extras is the main one that comes to mind, second would be the office - both work well in the states too. Stuff like My familiy is utter crap and is the reason I don't have a tv

Who ever came up with 6 episodes per series? BBC? it's lazy and pathetic. 10-12 is perfect, like the first season of Californication.
 
who on earth calls them situation comedies? thats worse than people saing romantic comedies!!

they have shortened names for a reason :p

Well no, it's just half as expensive as 12 episodes. The BBC doesn't have an infinite reserve of cash and I'd much rather they used the license fee to make a variety of things instead of long-running 3000 episode US-style series that get tired after the first season.
 
Love spaced, Black Books, IT Crowd, Office/Extras and US stuff like Curb, Seinfeld and Arrested Development. I cant stand My Family, was poor when it started out and has only gone further and further downhill, I mean are new episodes still beaing commissioned? The writing on that show is absolutely horrid stuff.
 
Good: Black books, Spaced, Nathan Barley, The IT Crowd, Extras, Father Ted, Fawlty Towers, Bottom, Alan Partridge

Poor: My family, My hero, Vicar of Dibley, Keeping Up Appearances, Two Pints of Lager, many more I cba to think of
 
My Hero is just, I don't know how to explain it, I saw one episode when it started for the fact that I liked Father ted back in the as a kid though seeing it now I can't even manage a smile. I just don't see how shows like it get made, how it got more than one series I don't know, but didn't it get 4 or 5 in the end? Not a funny joke, everyone else in it was awful, the writing terrible, the acting almost funny but due to how bad they are, and the fact they are seriously trying just makes it sad rather than funny.


It just makes me sad that somehow a decent portion of our population actually like My Hero and My family :(
