get the new one i really like it. i'm trying to forget what happened in the first one to make it seen like a totaly new thing. get both and play through 1st one then 2nd. 1st one is very cheap now!

yeah seems a BIT faster. The npc's seem to know what they are doing now. I had a few probs when i first installed (see above) not got that far back into it again yet but i'll let you know. dx10 still pointless too slow. I didn't think my rig was to bad either! maybe driver update from ati will help also futer patches might help some more.

Just come back from playing a bit, typical postman, late as usual, and I'm off to work soon, so no real game today.

liking it so far, the NCP's seem to have more of a clue this time around, actually take more cover, and try and flank you a bit, and they actually use grenades lol.

Performance wise, I'm running everything on max, with the Dx10 render, and I'd say the performance was pretty good, never seen it drop below 19fps yet, averages around 25-30, and is regually above 40 in the swamp area.

Just can't wait to have the time off work so I can do a marathon session lol.
 
Playing at 1680x1050, maximum I can go on my monitor. There's just some subbtle differences between Dx9 and Dx10, improved lighting, improved particle effects, not had a proper chance to delve into it yet to explore all the differences yet, like I said, only had a quick game unfortunately :(. Just gutted this game wasn't released when I was off work, only went back to work yesterday lol.
 
So how big a difference does Dx10 make? As I hear you get double the FPS in Dx9.

I get between 50/60fps on dx9 everything on high and between 15/25 on dx10 (more if its dark!!! lol). I dont think my 3870x2 is up to much with dx10 to be honest, crysis was getting 5/10 fps. When it rains in clear sky though it looks so so good, the floor get wet and everything, the smoke and light is really good too.

i didn't notic much difference when playing in dx9 or dx10 its only if you really look around you notice a difference. (thats me anyway)

I'm looking forward to getting home from work and having a proper go tonight.

I like it more the more i play...

K, I've solved my performance issues...all settings on max now (including AA), I've just set the lighting to the lowest level. 40+fps, fairly constant, lag issues gone. I'm using DX9 and 1680x1050. The lighting seems to be bugged, praying for a fix coz it does look lovely when it's working.

I'm psyched to get the patch someone said earlier solves NPC spawn issues. Cripes it better. I tried doing the second mission where you go kill baddies in 3 areas - got random messages saying 'Task failed' as I was panting my way towards the firefight. Got there to find they'd started the party without me, all my allies were deceased and the radar was swarming with red dots. gg.

EDIT: Patch downloaded (cheers for the link!) Patching and restarting now, if I don't post complainingly in another 5 minutes you know I'm a satisfied customer :) )

I may grab it then, its up now on Steam, but preload by the looks of it, well i presume it will preload as its up for prepurchase, unlocks on the 15th so it says, what a ******, oh and ive posted up the latest catalyst 8.9 beta's in the gfx card section if you want to give those a try, they dated the 20/08. :)

Changes:

• MultiSample Anti Aliasing
• Added use of special cover during fights.
• Improved dynamic lighting.
• Changes to combat balance: some enemies are now stronger.
• Changes to economic balance.

• Improved sorting of secondary objectives in the PDA.
• Added the ability to communicate with storyline characters, squad leaders and guides without holstering weapons.

You might as well get it, what have you got to lose! its as little as £17.99 on some sites!

I had to run all of the setting on low(see sig), plus didn't like fact that it took half a clip to kill someone.
The first game was good but this one i'm not to sure.

haha you're never to old!!!

Have you tried setting the exe file priority to high in task manager (that made mine faster) also the patch made a difference for me?
 
10 mins and works over + half hour drive home! i'll be playing by 6! Woohoo....

oh no.... i've just realised how sad i am! Its saturday night and i'm going home to play a computer game on my own! haha! ah well cheaper than going out!
