**SPORE**

So, is the general opinion that this is worth getting now at current retail, or waiting a month until its half price?

It's not quite what I expected, but i'm enjoying it. I can see it being a long term pickup and play game, rather than an immediate play to death and discard kind of game. If you like sandbox games, give it a go.

Christ, it's only £24.99 - just buy it.

£24.99 is a lot if the game is bad though!

Use you noodle in future, some of us don't enjoy pouring money down the drain!

And the reason I was asking is that I have a £40 gift card for a high street chain, and I doubt they are only charging £25 :)

In the creature stage my nest has relocated and all the creatures around me now have more health than me and i can't seem to make friends with them :( I try and mimick them, but i dont seem to get anywhere

You need to upgrade your parts. Mate with another of your creatures to go back to the editor.

I ended up with 3 rogues in my pack. :)

And its not parting any old money, your giving money to EA. It means the game has to be really good :p

Ok, got into space this morning and after about 20 minutes of exploring and creating a colony, 2 other races declared war on me completely enclosing my home system and attacking everything and anything I have, relentlessly. They turn up with overwhelming numbers with better weaponry which needs about 3 'lives' of mine before theyre all dead. I dont have the cash to build the cities back up and even if I did theyre back before I get a chance to finish.

The space stage is so unbalanced its ridiculous and Im only playing on Normal mode.

Up to this point the game was too easy and now its unplayable and unenjoyable.

some part of the communication/relationships not being consistent (sometimes I could charm my guys instantly, other times only the right side fo the pink friend-o-meter went up and the left stayed down. Why?

Ah, a friend of mine asked me about this on MSN as well. If that happens it's because their skill level in charm (for example) is higher than yours, you get a higher skill level as you find higher level body parts.

there's no challenge or strategy to [the tribal bit], it's just the visual charm that gets you through.

You do have to keep in mind this is for 12 and up, you can't expect Supreme Commander. :p

Whether it's for 12 and up or not, it's far too overly simplistic. I was playing Dune II at 12 and i'm no gaming genius! With this game I think the depth of gameplay was overlooked... it could have been much, much more. However as I said... Spore2 will likely build on this, and i'm having fun with it at the moment. :)

I think the space section is bugged. Some people are getting absolutely annihilated from the off, where others (like me) are getting a few threats, but thats around it. Already been to 150 systems and had no other races declare war on me.

It would be interesting to know how those getting attacked all the time on the space stage played their earlier levels.
My creature was herbivore and used mainly friendship and diplomacy until the end of the civ stage and i'm finding the space stage a friendly place on the whole. I'm wondering if those who are having trouble used mainly force and were carnivores for the majority of the game, and so the game is being equally hostile back to them in the final phase.

First two stages were aggressive and second two were diplomatic/religious.

Really liking space stage.. It's hard though..

Might restart it as I've learnt so much. but then you have to do all the missions again grr.
