Where to remap or chip a car?

Precisely! as said above, it sounds like a larger 4cyl engine

What?

It doesn't sound like a 4cylinder car you'd probably expect

it is much nicer sounding than other 4cylinders

And no BMW is debadged 'by default' - its an option, most commonly taken by 316/318 owners oddly enough.

The 318 sounds fine for what it is but dont start making silly bold claims like those you did earlier in this thread and not expect to get pulled up for it :p

Bold claims like what exactly? I said it sounds "perfectly fine" and that it does exactly!

As for the other bit, what I was getting at was that when you say 4cylinder people instantly assume weady noises and weak power etc, precisely what people think of the 318 2litre because the 1.9litre was exactly that so they assume the 2litre must be more or less the same when it's actually miles apart..

It's not THAT much different. Definitely an improvement but they still sound pretty similar.

Save your money and just strip all excess weight from the car, probably give you more of a performance increase and it's free!

I had the 1.9 before this and the 2.0 is definitely better by a fair margin for feel, sound, performance and fuel economy.

Though it's probably all due to the Vanos/Valvetronic in the 2litre since the 1.9 never had those.

Remove the spare wheel and fold down the rear seats, that gives you what - like 8Bhp just doing that?

And if you remove your air filter and just cover it with a sock, increases the amount of air into the engine, while filtering it = wallah, more bhp and a nice noise!

Let us know how you get on.

Err the ones I quoted in the post right above? :p

Didn't you used to post on here about how fantastic the 1.9 was? :p

Nein! I said it was comfortable on the motorway and better built than most other saloons, never said it sounded great or had a sporty feel or anything :p
