Hey, i was wondering if you guys could help me, ive started getting a lot of HD films, 4-12gb in size, and ive been playing them on my PS3. I have a mkv splitter, and i have been splitting them into 2gb files so that they can fit on my memory stick. But its getting annoying waiting 5 minutes to write onto it, then 2 minutes to copy to ps3 then do that about 4 times per film. So i thought it would be a good idea buying an external hdd which i can plug into my computer (i have external sata ports on my pc) then plug into my ps3 so i can just read films off or copy them over (so will have to be usb). Do you guys have any ideas of which hdd's r the best? I've never had an external hdd so i dont know which one's r good or not, your advice will be appreciated :D

Hey, I use a program called mkv2vob to convert all the MKVs to .mpg which does not degrate the quality at all, and stream it to the PS3 via WMP 11. You will need the PS3 and the PC to be connected via ethernet if you want to play 25gb+ streams without any hiccups/jitters. This setup works perfect, and you wont need any external hard drives or memory cards.

Yeah i use mkv2vob to make them playable on the ps3, i've tried streaming before, but when streaming HD films at 1mb/s it can be a pain in the ass, much better to write it to something and read it off :)

Or you can just copy the file to the PS3's hard drive and play it off that. Streaming its just a b***h with very large files. Cant wait until 802.11n is fully implented, but for now Ethernet all the way!

What i mean is that when 802.11n is fully ratified by IEEE (officially anonouced and no beta version's etc...) and all the devices that come equipped after this has happend then this will allow greater bandwidth to be exchanged (typically around 70mbps).
