First PES 2009 Review

I havent bought a pro evo game since 4.

Apart from the graphics, it is STILL better than everything that has come after it.

Seriously, they only need to stick a shiny skin on the Pro Evo 4 engine and the world would be right again.

FIFA games no matter how good, just dont handle, or play a good game of football.
 
I don't know how many times on this forum I've read it's all about the gameplay, especially in subjects like the Wii. Then people here are saying it needs to look like FIFA to be a good game.
 
I haven't seen anyone say it has to look like fifa to be a good game :confused: It needs to play like fifa to be a good game ;)
 
WOW there are other pro evo 4 fans out there!!! :D we used to do the soton pompy derby all the time! (cept 4 was the one im unaturally good at). I think 2008 has been bashed too much *hugs ps2* i accept that it had faults (odd offside rulings with a man on the back post always made me laugh) but it still was good fun!

I hope this years one isnt dissmissed for looking like 08 (which did look good overall)

Oh and bring back fifa international soccer on the mega drive.....

No I didn't if you search though the other evo threads you will see I said i aint touching this game until it's out, reviewed properly and I hear about lag.

Find where I said i was just going to buy it.

I guess you prefer 'real men' myself I prefer pussies but each to their own botty boy :p
 
Wonder if they sorted out the refs in 2009. The amount of times i've been red carded for my first tackle of the game is ridiculous.

I have enjoyed PES4, 5, 6 (to a point) and 2008 (to a point). But having played UEFA loads over the last month, I can't wait for FIFA 09 and I'm even growing to HATE PES!

The video footage elsewhere on this forum looks truly awful.

Everyone only loves 4 because it was so easy. Through ball, chip the keeper and that's it. Don't get me wrong, it was a good game but definitely not the pinnacle of football games.

Still I did say if it doesn't lag which i wont know until after it's out. I still love 08 if the lag wasn't there i'd be playing it online.

Chances are it still will. Then I won't bother with a football game.

I guess it depends how good the people you were playing against were, tactics like that would rarely work against the top players.

Just get Fifa, I even remember saying you were going to at one point.

The core gameplay of PES is still pretty decent, it's just Fifa is miles ahead it all other areas. Wake up and see the light!

Those tactics worked against everyone I played, so unless everyone online was crap, it was a fault of the game.

Come on, you've got to admit chipping the keeper was incredibly easy!

I was going to, then I played it round my nephews and I just didn't like it. I used to play his dad a lot on Evo and we had some exciting games. I just don't like the pace on Fifa. I prefer it because it borders more on the arcade type of football games I used to prefer so much.

I'm sure to 90% of people fifa is now better, its just not my cup of tea.
 
That's fair enough, but it often takes people a while to get into Fifa. When I first played it I was like wtf's this, the players felt like oil tankers compared to PES. After a while though you do get used to it and can't imagine going back, it's worth giving the demo a go at least.

It was easy once you got into that position (as was dummying it round the keeper) but getting into those postions was the hard part, certainly against the good players at least, and it didn't happen anywhere near enough to spoil or unbalance the game. If anything I'd say the cutback was already more of a sure fire goal in 4. I just honestly don't recall the chip being overused, I certainly didn't overuse it (but obviously I was happy to take the chance when it came).

Was the same for me, I thought wtf is this **** when I first tried it. FIFA does seem to take a lot of time to get used to for most people, but once you get there it is very good.
 
I just feel the movement on fifa is more sluggish when running and you have so much less control over your player ;<
