**SPORE**

Just started playing this game tonight, seems like a fun game, looking forward to the later stages. I know people hate it which is fair enough i can see why its not for everyone. But IMO its a nice pick up and play type game that doesn't take much to grasp.

Yup, that's exactly why I love it.

Normally I'd be playing games that require a large investment of time like Civilization IV or MMORPGs, but with Spore I can just pick it up for half an hour then put it down as long as I don't get too drawn-in. :)

Once you've completed it, you wont go back for seconds.

Personally I've already done each stage at least 3-6 times depending on how much I liked that particular stage, apart from the space stage which I've not completed yet. The creature stage is by far my favourite stage, and I will definitely go back to it in the future. :D

I'll probably also re-roll a few times to try different branches of development. So far I've only gotten close to completing it as a herbivore missionary, I want to try the warmongering path at some point. :)

You are proberly right in that i miss certain stuff but it really bores me to go again on a film or game.

Understandable. Even if I don't think I missed anything I will play/watch something again just to be sure, or else it constantly nags me in the back of my mind. :D

I have a tendencey to go through a game at a natural speed, not too fast but not dawdling either, until I complete it. I then go back and do it again but take a lot longer, now knowing all the controls etc and find I have a much better experience of the game not having to think about which keys I need to press etc.

I went from cell to space twice in the first weekend and have started going for some of the achievement badges which are for things like speed of completion etc.

Once I've figured most things out, I can then play a game the way I want to and not the way it initially expects me to.

edit out that sweary hornett or you'll be having a holiday from here too ;)

Personally I liked the game right up until the point where another space empire attacked me, now I'm just getting called from system to system as they attack and I keep dying. Why the heck cant my people defend themselves??

I was enjoying space and putting species on planets etc until this happened.

I did star it out didn't I?

Also I had the same problem getting hammers all the time. Decided to start a new game selected space stage. I could then pick my old species and this time my home world was full with turrets and buildings. Been a lot easier this time

Game seems quite shallow to me, wish there was more depth, the way I've been hearing Will Wright tout about it over these few years is it was going to be a huge "evolution sim" where each action would have unique consequences, and therefore have lots of replayabilty.

Think I got the wrong impression.

So far playing it just seem like shallow mini games with a customisable avatar.

Exactly how I feel. Absolutely shocking that they claim to have spent 5 years on it. The creature creator is fun but pointless. Whats the point on putting spikes, etc on there if they are only for show!! Its nothing more complicated in combat than hitting buttons 1-3 repeatedly. What your character looks like makes no difference at all.

I actually found the cell stage fun as at least when you customised your animal the spikes, etc actually did something more than just look cool.

Release: 05/09/2008

About:
The next evolution in gaming is upon us. From the mind of Will Wright, the creator of The Sims, comes SPORE, an epic journey that takes you from the origin and evolution of life through the development of civilisation and technology and eventually all the way into the deepest reaches of outer space.

Begin your odyssey at the dawn of life as a simple microbe just trying to survive, then use the fun, intuitive Editors to evolve the creature from its microscopic origins into an intelligent, tool-using race. Guide your species as it builds (and the player designs) villages, buildings, cities, and vehicles. Along the way to becoming a global civilisation you can choose whether to hunt or forage, attack or trade, be nice or play rough!

All the action takes place in a huge, lush world populated with creatures evolved by other players and shared over SPORE's central servers. When it's ready, your one-time pond scum launches into space in its UFO on a grand voyage of discovery, planet forming, or destruct-ion! As you explore and play in this limitless universe of unique worlds, your personal Sporepedia tracks all the creatures you've met and places you've visited.

Well i cant wait its only 5 days now until release, ive had the creature creater since release and cant wait to see them in the world of spore:D
PCGAMER gave it 91%.

sounds good but isnt wow just a better version of this format growing a character from start to a powerfull one

Well I've been playing just for tonight. My thoughts.... nothing too taxing but it's kinda fun. I lost a few hours tonight as I was spending ages thinking of names and how I want my creature to look. So far so good. :)

My orc looked the same as he did at lvl 1 when he was lvl 70. Except he had glowing gear that made him look like a power ranger... thats one difference i spot
