Fps these days in paticular seem to almost exclusively rely on the regenerating health gimmick. Whatever happened regular health bars and health packs?
Seems to be a byproduct of devs porting games to console, cod1 and uo for example, regular health system, health bars and packs. Cod2 which just happened to go on consoles as well comes out and that regenerating health routine is in place instead.
Always thought it was a step backwards for fps games, say for example in cod1 if you toss a grenade and someones close by to the explosion they get injured, only way to fix that is find a health pack which obviously isnt always a certainty. Cod2 and 4 toss a nade they get injured, hide behind a wall for 3 secs and back to 100% health.
