18GB install for GTA IV

It's on a single DVD for the Xbox 360 so Blu-Ray is moot here, as the quality is no better. Personally I'm still hoping that this is a sign of better texture quality, it certainly looks better from the screenshots we've seen so far.
Addition: Obviously the whole thing wouldn't just be textures, probably uncompressed audio too.

Bear in mind that just because it's an 18gig install, it doesn't mean to say that it will be an 18gig download, as you'd hope that compression would be used for versions obtained from digitial distribution systems. Heck, on a 10meg line it'd only take 5hrs to download 18gig anyway.

25GB/50GB BluRay disk, or Compressed onto a DVD for 360, an 18GB install doesnt strike me as big really. If they uncompressed all the files id expect it to easily take that much space.

Id love to get this on Steam. Unfortunately I recon it will become a victim of the COD4 style uber stupid Steam pricing!

The PS3 install was the best part of 5gig and that was only for 'loading' the game, the actual data streaming once the engine had been initialized all came from the blu-ray which goes some way to explaining why it's so huge.
Average game imo, got about 50% of the way through and got bored :/

GIT!! I need to get a dual layer drive now!
I thought all DVD-ROM drives made this century had the ability to read dual-layer discs?

18Gb isn't that much to be honest. Crysis is around 12Gb. I can't wait to get mine delivered.
They can, you'd need a dual layer drive to write to one.
I'm not sure why everyone's shocked at the size of GTA IV. 18GB isn't much at all these days considering 1TB drives are pretty cheap.

. Hope the textures get a nice upgrade, pc gamers don't have to cope with the inferior gpu's of the consoles...Why have I got a feeling that this won't be anywhere near as good as previous versions? After having played it for a couple of hours on a friends 360, whilst the graphics were good, I didn't think the game itself was anything special.
Yeah SA is still the daddy, they failed bigtime by restricting it to only a city ( even tho some people hated the countryside, most loved it if you go to gta forums etc ), removing features people used to love ( eg. modding cars ), gangs, etc...
I believe GTA IV is the first one in a trilogy like GTA III was first...
Need 2 new GTA's again to match SA's perfect game I reckon.
